Anna Louise Brady, 86, of Owings passed away December 3, 2025. She was born July 2, 1939, in Edgewater to Gilbert Jesse and Sheila Catherine (Taylor) Hardesty. Anna grew up on the family farm in Edgewater and graduated from Annapolis High School. She worked for Nationwide Insurance Company until her son was born in 1972. She then stayed home to raise her family and help on the farm. Anna was a former member of Davidsonville United Methodist Church and Smithville United Methodist Church and is a current member of Galesville United Methodist Church. Anna loves reading and was never without a book. She enjoyed going out to lunch with her sisters, spending time with her family, and watching gameshows and The Young and the Restless.

Anna was preceded in death by her husband Sylvester Lewis Brady, Sr. She is survived by her son Sylvester Lewis “S.L.” Brady, Jr. and his wife Amanda, grandchildren Lee, Travis, and Rebekah Brady, sister Rosetta Clark and Jennifer Collinson, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Patrick John Miesner died peacefully on Tuesday, December 2, 2025, after a

two-year battle with glioblastoma brain cancer.  He was born on March 31, 1959, in Leonardtown, MD to the late Alfred and Frances Miesner.  Pat was a painter by trade working all his life with his father and brothers.  He married the love of his life Linda on July 3, 1990.  Together, they raised her two sons, Christopher and Richard Terrell.

Among his many talents, he loved gardening, was an excellent woodworking craftsman; making furniture, holiday crafts, American flags and crosses for any family and friends who wanted one.  One of Pat’s flags hangs in the Calvert County Police station.  Pat and Linda loved going to West Virginia to visit his childhood friend and new friends they made.  He put everything he had into his family and friends that he loved, and everything he did.

Pat is survived by his siblings, Linda Wise (Donnie), Michael Miesner (Elaine),

Rick Miesner (Sharon), Mimmie Taylor (Bobby), Donna Haupt (Rick), Jean Meador (Tommy), Jackie Miesner, Cathy Bennett (Bucky), sons Christopher and Richard (Nissa); grandchildren Enola, Donovan, and Aaron and several nieces and nephews.   He was preceded in death by his wife Linda and his parents.

A visitation will be held on Sunday, December 7, 2025, between 2:00 pm – 4:00 pm, with a service at 4:00 pm at Rausch Funeral Home, 4405 Broomes Island Rd, Port Republic MD  20676.  Burial will be private.

Thomas Parran III, 78 of St. Leonard MD, peacefully passed away on November 29, 2025. Tom was born on October 2, 1947, to Thomas Parran Jr and Norma Hartge of Annapolis, Md. Tom is preceded in death by his brother, Douglas Parran. He graduated from St. Paul’s School of Boys in 1967.

Tom being a lifelong resident of Southern Maryland, retired from the Calvert County Government after 28 years, he also dedicated his time to The Optimist International of Prince Frederick, and truly believed in the volunteer organization which aimed to make the future brighter for children and their communities.

Kathleen “Kathy” Ann Carriere, 78, of Huntingtown, Maryland, passed away on November 29, 2025, at Caribbean Breeze Assisted Living in Owings, Maryland. She was born on April 12, 1947, in Kansas City, Missouri, to Mary Margaret (Kirlin) and Jess B. Lewis. Kathy’s family moved to Lancaster, PA, where she graduated from high school in 1965. She worked as a waitress before beginning her career as secretary for the National Association of Letter Carriers in Washington, D.C., which would span over thirty-five years. She married Serge Paul Carriere on July 24, 1982, and they moved between Maryland and Virginia until 1994 when they settled in Calvert County, Maryland. Kathy loved gardening, sewing, needlework, and all kinds of crafts. She was an especially talented baker, famous for her Christmas cookies, which she would carefully package and mail to her loved ones to spread holiday cheer.

Kathy is survived by her daughters, Nicole Vasanth (Mahesh) of Gaithersburg, Michelle Kempf (John) of Huntingtown, and stepdaughter Danielle Bolton (Phillip); her grandchildren Haden, and Kinley Bolton; Asha, and Jayan Vasanth; Kailyn, and Kassidy Kempf, and her sister Margaret “Peggy” Lewis. Kathy was preceded in death by her brother Mike, sisters Judy, and Kris.

John Raymond “Jack” Gibson, 76, a lifelong resident of Huntingtown passed away November 27, 2025 at his home. He was born December 15, 1948 to James Raymond and Shirley Mae (Cranford) Gibson. Jack grew up on the family farm in Huntingtown and graduated from Calvert High School. After graduating he went to work for the Department of Commerce Census Bureau where he enjoyed a long successful career, retiring in 2009 after 42 years of service. Jack loved working in the yard, flower gardening, traveling to Ocean City, and walking the Chesapeake and North Beach boardwalks every day.

Jack is survived by his brother Roy Gibson and his wife Debbie of Dadeville, AL, nephews Christopher Gibson and his fiancé Misty Kirk, Eric Gibson and his wife Tiffany, Robert Gibson and his wife Ann, and Philip Gibson and his wife Margaret, niece Denise Claffy, and sister-in-law Peggy Gibson. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother Dennis Gibson.

Dorothy Belle Wood, 87, of Leonardtown, Maryland, formerly of Lusby, Maryland, passed away peacefully at her home on November 27, 2025. Born on January 30, 1938, in Prince Frederick, Maryland, she was the daughter of the late Dorothy and William Tory Bafford.

Dorothy was a proud graduate of Calvert High School. She served her community for many years as a Sunday School Teacher and a Teacher at SPUMPS, sharing her faith, kindness, and gentle spirit with countless children. Above all, she devoted her life to raising and caring for her family—a role she cherished deeply. She loved cooking and baking for her loved ones, and her kitchen was always a place of warmth, comfort, and togetherness.

Dorothy is survived by her children: Jeff Wood (Tina) of Lusby, MD; Gail Reeder (Rick) of Lusby, MD; Debbie Johnson of Lusby, MD; and Kim Blackistone (Roy) of Leonardtown, MD. She is also survived by her sister, Eva Mae Wood of Florida; ten grandchildren; fourteen great-grandchildren; and one great-grandchild on the way.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her brother, William T. Bafford, Jr.

The family will receive friends on Thursday, December 4, 2025, at Rausch Funeral Home, 20 American Lane, Lusby, MD, from 10:30 a.m. until the time of funeral services at 12:00 noon, with Pastor Faith Wilkerson and Rev. Ruth Dixon officiating. Interment will follow at St. Paul United Methodist Cemetery.

Herman Bradley Rawlings, “Brad,” 64, of Owings, Maryland, passed away peacefully on Thanksgiving Day, November 27, 2025.

Born on September 1, 1961, in Prince Frederick, MD, Brad was the son of Everard Lee Rawlings and Madolyn Veronica Rawlings. He grew up in Calvert County, attending Our Lady Star of the Sea Catholic School in Solomons and graduated from Northern High School. From an early age, he had a deep love for sports, service, and community—passions that shaped the man he became.

Brad dedicated many years to the Calvert County Detention Center before moving on to work in security as a contractor for the Patuxent River Naval Air Station. But his greatest service was to the community he loved. A proud and longtime firefighter with the Prince Frederick Volunteer Fire Department, Brad served as Chief for several years. He earned numerous awards, including Most Calls Run and the Chief’s Award, reflecting his unwavering dedication and courage.

A gifted athlete, Brad was especially known in his younger years for his incredible pitching talent on the baseball field. As he got older, he continued his love for the game by playing men’s softball on local teams for many years. He could often be found on the ballfield or cheering on his favorite sports teams. He was a devoted Washington Capitals fan, a NASCAR enthusiast, and a loyal Colts fan—following the team faithfully from Baltimore to Indianapolis. Brad loved country music, good company, and the kind of laughter that comes from deep, familiar friendships.

Brad is survived by his sisters, Terry Miller and Vicky Rawlings; his nephew Dale Elliott; his niece Megan Cooper and her husband Andrew; and his nephew Cody Horsmon and his wife Paige. He was preceded in death by his parents. Brad was a fiercely loyal brother and uncle—protective, loving, and always showing up when people needed him. His family and friends will forever remember his humor, his big heart, and his undeniable presence.

A visitation will be held on Friday, December 5, 2025, at Rausch Funeral Home, 20 American Lane, Lusby, MD. Viewing will begin at 10:00 AM, followed by a funeral service at 12:00 PM. Burial will take place immediately afterward at Chesapeake Highlands Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Brad’s memory to the Prince Frederick Volunteer Fire Department—an organization that meant the world to him.

Those who knew Brad will remember a man who loved deeply, served proudly, and lived with heart. His legacy lives on in the people he protected, the firefighters he proudly served alongside, the teammates he played beside, and the family who will miss him every single day.

With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of the cherished Jeffrey Matthew Jordan, 45, of Lusby, MD, who left us on Tuesday, November 25, 2025, at Johns Hopkins Hospital.

Jeffrey was born on October 2, 1980, in Chattanooga, TN.

Jeff was a brilliant and resourceful man who took immense pride in his ability to fix anything—computers, electronics, and all his equipment at Solomon’s True Value. He was known for giving his all until he could give no more. Deeply kind and a man of strong faith, Jeff adored his momma and carried a lifelong devotion to her. He also worked tirelessly alongside his father, Dick, learning from him, supporting him, and building a bond rooted in hard work, love, and shared purpose.

A lover of life and the water, Jeff especially treasured days at the beach with his children and Florida offshore fishing trips with his father Dick, brother Mike, son Connor and godson Jonathan. He was a loyal Ravens fan and had an infectious smile that made everyone gravitate toward him. Jeffs kindness, strength, manners and compassion will be carried on through Carli and Connor by the lessons he taught them. Through good times and bad times, Jeff always made sure to remind them to always be the best that they could be, to be true to themselves and to always give 100%.

He is survived by his children, Carli Anne and Connor Matthew, who were the greatest joys of his life and the purest reflection of his heart; his parents, George Melton Jr. and Frances Arlene; his brothers Michael (Stephanie) and Joshua; his nephews Tyler, Kyle, Jack, and Jason; his godson, Jonathan; his finance, Angel and her 3 boys, Jakson, Jeremy, and Jacob. He also leaves behind several beloved aunts, uncles, cousins, customers, and friends whose lives he touched in countless ways.

May we remember him in every smile he inspired and every act of love he left behind.

Norman Russell Manifold passed away peacefully on November 24, 2025, at his home in Deale, Maryland. He was born on November 26^th, 1935, in Deale, where he was a lifelong resident except for a brief sojourn in Shady Side, MD.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Mary E.  Chaney and James Donald Manifold Sr., by his Stepfather, Stanley Martin Olson, and Half-Sister, Anna L. Olson.

He is survived by his wife, Janet L. Manifold (nee Phipps); they were married on November 23, 1963. His children are Brian R. Manifold of Chesapeake Beach, MD; Kelly D. Gates of West River, MD; Janna M. Manifold and her husband John Hupfl of Deale, MD; and Amy M. Johnson and her husband Keith Johnson of Deale, MD. His grandchildren are Kailyn E. Bradshaw (Russell); Casey J. Manifold; Jesse W. Gates (Erica); Harvey E. Gates IV; Amber N.  Johnson; Sara A.  Johnson and Bryce A. Manifold; and his great grandchildren are Colsen S.  Bradshaw and Jayce C. Cowert.

He also leaves behind his siblings, James Donald Manifold Jr. of Lothian, MD; Iva Berchdorf of Deale, MD and Edna Passero of Deale, MD, and his sister-in-law, Betty Jo (Jody) Evans and her husband, Lee of Bath, ME.

Norman graduated from Southern Senior High School in 1953. He worked at Johnson Lumber Company of Annapolis after graduation, then he was drafted into the US Army in 1958 and served in several Forts before being discharged in 1960. After being discharged from the Army, Norman worked with his stepfather (Martin) in his roofing and sheet metal business until he retired, and various other places. He worked on the water as a charter mate for John MacEwan on the boat, “Janet M”, until he was physically unable to continue.

He was never one to sit still, a true Jack of all Trades, the go-to guy when something needed fixing, and was always willing to lend a hand to anyone in need. He was not much of a talker but as they say, “when he did talk, you better listen”.  A quiet man who rarely complained about anything, he did have a bit of a stubborn streak. But he enjoyed family time and just being with them. Norman loved anything on the water, especially fishing and crabbing. He enjoyed working with his hands, doing repairs to cars, or working on boats at the railway. A fan of the Baltimore Orioles baseball, he attended many games with his family at Memorial Stadium and later at Camden Yards and watched all televised games. He enjoyed watching old western TV shows and movies.

Norman Manifold will be greatly missed by his family and friends. If anyone personified the spirit of a place, Norman personified Deale, Maryland, and a down-to-earth way of life that takes one day at a time and makes the most of it.

Dwight David “Dewey” Dietrich, 64, of Lusby, Maryland, passed away on November 23, 2025, in Washington, D.C. Born on July 14, 1961, in Baltimore, he was the son of the late Elizabeth Jane and Austin Clarence Dietrich.

Dwight grew up in Towson and graduated from Towson High School in 1979 before continuing his education at RETS Technical School, where he completed his studies in 1981. He dedicated more than four decades of his career to Constellation Energy at the Calvert Cliffs Clean Energy Center, serving as an Instrument Control Technician for 42 years until his retirement in January 2023. He was known for his skill, reliability, and deep commitment to his work.

A man of faith and community, Dwight was an active member of St. John Vianney Catholic Church and belonged to the Knights of Columbus and the American Legion. His life outside of work was rich with hobbies and passions. He loved golfing, fishing, and spending time on the water. He found joy in NASCAR, gardening, and volunteering, always ready to lend a hand where it was needed.

Dwight is survived by his beloved daughter, Amanda E. D. Junge (Michael Morris) of Lovettsville, Virginia; his siblings, Julia A. Marlowe (Robert) of Towson, Maryland, Stephen C. Dietrich of Towson, Maryland, and Muriel E. Larrimore (Timothy) of Harford County, Maryland; and his two cherished grandchildren. He will be remembered with love by many relatives and friends.

The family will receive friends on Friday, December 12, 2025, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Rausch Funeral Home, 20 American Lane, Lusby, Maryland. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, December 13, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at St. John Vianney Catholic Church in Prince Frederick, Maryland. Interment will be private.

Dorothy Emma Tant, 83, of Falls Church, Virginia, passed away on November 22, 2025, in Solomons, Maryland. Born August 23, 1942, in Camden, New Jersey, Dorothy was the beloved daughter of the late Emma Rainas Callen and Lester Morgan Callen.

Dorothy proudly served her country in the United States Army and was an honorably discharged veteran. Following her military service, she pursued higher education and graduated from George Mason University in 1974. She went on to dedicate 36 years of service as an Administrative Assistant with the Social Security Administration, where she was respected for her diligence, kindness, and commitment to helping others.

A proud member of the Women’s Army Corps Veterans Association, Dorothy cherished the camaraderie and shared history of her fellow servicewomen. She was preceded in death by her husband, Bobby Gene Tant, who passed on March 28, 2015.

Dorothy is survived by her brother, George Callen of Solomons, Maryland, who will forever hold close her memory, warmth, and strength.

A graveside service will be held at a later date at Fort Jackson National Cemetery in Columbia, South Carolina, where she will be laid to rest with the honors she earned through a life of service and dedication.

Diane L. Wood, 78, of Prince Frederick, MD passed away on Saturday November 22, 2025 in Prince Frederick, MD.

Diane L. Wood was born on March 3, 1947 at the Annapolis Naval Academy Hospital to Milly and Gene Hromadka.  At the age of 5 she was enrolled into the Peabody School of Music, Baltimore where she studied piano for 8 years.  Diane graduated from St. Mary’s High School in Annapolis with honors and went to Towson University where she studies music.

After graduating she became a teacher in Anne Arundel County Public School System.  She taught at Annapolis Elementary, Central Elementary, and Central Medial.  After 33 years of service teaching in Anne Arundel County she went to work at Calverton as a music teacher.  Her love for all her students and teaching is well documented.

In 1970 she married Douglas C. Wood. It was after they moved to Calvert County that Diane started playing for St. John Vianney Catholic Church in Prince Frederick, MD and Jesus the Devine Word in Huntingtown, MD.  During this time she was drafted into the Knights of Columbus 4th Degree Choir where she traveled the State of Maryland playing for they at different functions.

As she will always be remembers for her gentle touch on the keyboard, her love of teaching, and religious music.  She is survived by her loving husband of 55 years Douglas Wood and many friends.

Andrew Honore Jazwinski was born on January 11, 1936, in Warsaw, Poland, and passed away on November 21, 2025. He was predeceased by his beloved wife, Anita Jazwinski, and his parents, Stanislaw and Helena Jazwinski.

Andrew is survived by his daughters, Julie J. O’Dell of Owings, Maryland, and Elizabeth L. Jazwinski of Lusby, Maryland. He was a devoted grandfather to Christopher, Jennifer, Nicole, Tina, and Tyler, and a proud great-grandfather to Kinsley, Legend, Lyric, and Harper. He is also survived by his brother, Michal Jazwinski, and his sisters, Christina Jazwinski and Maria Zakrzewski.

Andrew immigrated to the United States in 1936, at age 10 and attended high school in Pennsylvania. He continued his education at Penn State University, earning a bachelor’s degree in Geophysics. It was there that he met the love of his life, Anita Sabatine. They married soon after graduation. Together they moved to California, where Andrew completed his master’s degree in Geophysics. The couple later settled in Maryland, where he earned his Doctorate Degree in Applied Mathematics.

Andrew taught applied mathematics at Loyola College, Johns Hopkins University, and MIT.  He went on to become a senior research engineer at Martin Marietta (now Lockheed Martin) and later served as a visiting research scientist for the Martin Research Institute. In 1974, he was honored with the JFK American Heritage Award for minorities.

Throughout his life, Andrew was a dedicated American, and a successful business executive and entrepreneur, founding and operating multiple corporations.
Andrew authored the influential book Stochastic Processes and Filtering Theory, which continues to be used in college courses today.

His brilliance, work ethic, and gentle spirit touched the lives of all who knew him. His legacy lives on in his family, his academic contributions, and his remarkable life story.

William Robert “Billy” Lauer, age 86 of Alton, Missouri, born August 16, 1939 in Chesapeake Beach, MD, passed away November 20, 2025 at Ozarks Healthcare, West Plains, MO. Billy was raised in Calvert County and was employed as a carpenter during his working years. He and his wife Grace had lived in Owings until moving to Alton, Missouri where they lived for the past 11 years. In his leisure time Billy enjoyed fishing, gardening, and watching baseball and football games.

Survivors include his wife of nearly 67 years, Grace Buckmaster Lauer, a special cousin Cathy Myers, numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives and friends, and his dog Mitchie. He was preceded in death by his parents, Roland Lauer and Mary Stallings Lauer, his brothers Alexander and Russell Lauer, and sisters Marie Russell and Doris Lehnert.

Friends and family will be received on Friday November 28, 2025 from 2-4 and 6-8 P.M. at Rausch Funeral Home, 8325 Mt. Harmony Lane, Owings, MD, where funeral services will be Saturday November 29, 2025 at 11:00 A.M. Burial will follow at Emmanuel U.M. Church Cemetery, Huntingtown, Maryland.

William P. Bozman, Sr. (Bill, Dad, Pop-Pop) of St. Leonard, MD passed away at 97, on Wednesday, November 19, 2025, at his residence, with his family by his side.  He was born in Princess Anne, MD and grew up in University Park, MD.

Bill served in the U.S. Army from 1951 to 1953 as a Personnel Management Specialist. He earned the rank of Corporal and qualified to be Master Sergeant of Military Operations. He said that the Army taught him how to accomplish things as a team with “a bunch of great men,” which was beneficial when he returned to civilian life. Bill joined The Hecht Company in 1953, where he worked for 37 years before retiring as Divisional Vice President of Maintenance and Construction.  He always credited his success to the hard work and dedication of the people on his team, establishing many lifelong friendships. After retiring, he volunteered for the Beaches Water Co-op from 1997 to 2015 and has a water pumping station named in his honor. He was also an active member of the Long Beach Civic Association.

Bill met Jean Elizabeth Thomas at The Hecht Company. They were married on June 12, 1959 and enjoyed 66 years together, realizing that they had found the perfect spouse and best friend to raise a strong, loving family.

In his younger years, Bill showed his wild side by riding his Harley Davidson motorcycle. He always loved the Chesapeake Bay, sailing during his teenage years through his retirement on boats including his Aquacat, Flying Scott and Catalina 27, named Spindrift. He enjoyed doing home carpentry projects, activities near the water and tinkering with electronic devices whenever possible. He learned to use many of the newest gadgets, which allowed him to perform tasks electronically, such as tracking the stock market.

After retiring, Bill designed and oversaw the renovation of their Long Beach home.  After its completion in 1992, he relaxed on the deck overlooking Flag Harbor and enjoyed the sun while sipping wine, often joined by his granddaughter Angela.  Bill followed sports any time his children or grandchildren were involved. His grandson, Ryan, played on many sports teams, so Bill attended the games to cheer on his “Champ”. Many years later, he rooted for his grandson, Evan, while attending many of his sporting events. Bill was also proud of his granddaughters, Caitlin and Natalie for their academic achievements.  He had unique, loving relationships with each of his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.  He enjoyed many family vacations, as well as vacations that he and Jean took with friends.

When asked how he would like to be remembered, Bill answered, “I would like to think I have accomplished many things in my life. I was able to receive an education which enabled me to achieve many things. I came from a great family, served in the Army, married a wonderful woman and raised three successful sons. My career allowed me to adequately provide for my family. My grandchildren and great-grandchildren bring me much joy.  I have a lot to be grateful for and feel that in order to get to this point in my life, I made the grade with passing marks.”

Bill is survived by his beloved wife, Jean; children, William P. Bozman, Jr. and his wife, Lynn, of Owings, MD, Stephen K. Bozman of St. Leonard, MD and Jeffrey T. Bozman and his wife, Nicole, of Chesapeake Beach, MD; grandchildren, Angela Hawkins (Chris), Ryan Bozman (Allison), Caitlin Bozman (Josh), Natalie Bozman and Evan Bozman; great-grandchildren Carson Hawkins, Aubree Hawkins and Charlotte Bozman; and nieces, nephews and cousins.  He was preceded in death by his parents, William H. Bozman and Edna M. (Payne) Bozman; sister, Gloria Newberry and brother, Robert Bozman.

Marie Elizabeth Fisher, 89, of Owings passed away November 19, 2025. She was born January 24, 1936 in Syracuse, NY to Vincent and Julie Commoso. Marie married William “Gene” Fisher when she was 18 years old and shortly after they moved to California where Gene was stationed. They moved to Maryland before deployments took them overseas to France and England, before moving back to Maryland and settling in Forestville. Marie worked for Prince George’s County Public Schools for 27 years before retiring to take care of her husband. She was a member of St. Anthony’s Catholic Church and in her spare time she enjoyed going to the American Legion and playing slot machines, watching football, and spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.

Marie was preceded in death by her husband William “Gene” Fisher. She is survived by her children Julia Skillicorn, Michael Fisher, Carol Schultes, and William “Jim” Fisher, grandchildren Holly, Alex, Jackie, Jacob, and Gabriel, and great-grandchild CJ.

Irene Williams, 74, of Huntingtown, Maryland, passed away on November 18, 2025, after a courageous battle with cancer. She displayed incredible strength, faith and grace, inspiring all who knew and encountered her.

Irene was born on December 20, 1950 to Henry and Irene Ashworth in Pawtucket, Rhode Island. Her childhood was shaped, in large part, by her father’s job with IBM, which required the family – including older brother, Skip, and younger sister, Joyce – to move to a new state every one to three years. Beginning in 1957, the family moved to New York and later lived in Maine, Louisiana, Michigan, Alabama, and Texas, before settling in Oklahoma in 1967.

After graduating from Mount St. Mary High School in 1969, Irene went on to study special education at Oklahoma University. She moved to Maryland in 1974, where she later earned a master’s degree in language resources from the University of Maryland, College Park.

Irene was a passionate, dedicated and exemplary teacher for over 40 years. She taught special education for the first half of her career at: Orchard Park in Oklahoma and Green Holly and Appeal Elementary in Maryland. The latter half was spent as an 8^th grade language arts teacher, ultimately retiring from Plum Point Middle in Huntingtown, MD. Irene loved teaching and spent countless hours outside the classroom helping her students, the schools and the community. She nurtured the potential in every student with determination, understanding and respect, especially those most in need.

After retirement, Irene continued to give and help others, volunteering at local schools and her church, St. John Vianney. She also enjoyed planning and taking family trips, most notably to Mexico, North Carolina, Oklahoma, Rhode Island, D.C., Florida, various arts & craft shows and anywhere near the water. A few (more) of her favorite things are: four seasons, especially autumn; trees; celebrating & decorating for holidays; Hallmark anything; animals, especially dogs; putting together care packages & gift giving; hosting & cooking; attending church; museums; learning new words; watching Ravens & OU football; spending quality time with her grandkids.

Above all, Irene was a devoted, beloved and respected mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, friend and parishioner. She strived to live by her own words, “When I make a commitment, I honor it.” Her legacy is one of integrity, generosity, work ethic, inclusion, faith and unconditional love.

Irene will be lovingly remembered by son Mattison Williams; daughter, Regina Razon and husband, Kevin; Anthony Williams and wife, Jessica; grandsons, Nathan and Landon Williams; granddaughters, Penelope and Juniper Razon; grand dog, Poppy; as well as countless relatives and friends.

A viewing will be held at 10 am on Saturday, November 29, 2025, followed by the funeral service at 11 am, at 105 Vianney Lane, Prince Frederick, MD 20678. Matthew Anthony Wolf, “Matt”, 42 of St. Leonard, Maryland passed away November 17. 2025 at his home. Matt was born on November 18, 1982, in Westminster, MD to the late Robert A. Wolf and Elaine Marie Wolf. He graduated from Patuxent High School and after high school he worked as a carpenter. Matt became an amazing carpenter who built personalized home additions, decks, bird houses and many other items. He was an avid Steelers fan, and he loved his family and animals very much.

Matt is survived by his mother, Elaine Marie Wolf, children Sydney Rose, Kobe Matthew, and Kaylee Ann Wolf. He is also survived by his sisters, Melissa Ann and Lindsay Marie Wolf. He was predeceased by a brother Timothy Patrick Wolf.

A Memorial visitation will be held on Wednesday December 3, 2025, at the Rausch Funeral Home, 4405 Broomes Island Road, Port Republic, MD from 1-4 PM.

Heather Orcutt Rickard, 49, of Lexington Park, MD, formerly of Lothian, MD, passed away peacefully at her home on November 17, 2025. Born on March 21, 1976, in Annapolis, MD, she was the beloved daughter of Jackie and Maurice Fowler.

Heather’s life was defined by compassion, dedication, and faith. She graduated from Calverton High School in 1994 and continued her education at Greensboro College, where she graduated in 1998. Guided by a deep commitment to helping others, she devoted her professional life to serving as a Child Advocate—work that reflected her generous spirit and her unwavering desire to support those in need.

On May 20, 2006, Heather married the love of her life, Les Rickard, in Thomasville, NC. Together, they built a beautiful family and shared a bond marked by loyalty, love, and mutual devotion. She was a cherished wife and a proud, loving mother to Riley Orcutt, Tucker Rickard, and Anna Rickard, who were the center of her world.

A woman of strong faith, Heather was a devoted member of Libertad Baptist Church. Her kindness, warmth, and steadfast dedication to her family, church, and community will be lovingly remembered by all who knew her.

Heather is survived by her parents, Jackie and Maurice Fowler; her husband, Les Rickard; her children, Riley Orcutt, Tucker Rickard, and Anna Rickard; and her siblings, Rusty Fowler (Trish), Jamie Fowler (Carmen), and Matthew Fowler (Morgan). She is also remembered by extended family members, friends, and the many lives she touched through her advocacy and friendship.

Family will receive friends on Sunday, November 23, 2025, from 2–5 p.m. at Rausch Funeral Home, 20 American Lane, Lusby, MD 20657. A funeral service will be held on Monday, November 24, 2025, at 11 a.m. in the funeral home chapel with Pastor Mark Barnhart of Libertad Baptist Church and Pastor Robert Mayes of First Baptist Church of Deale officiating. Interment will be held at a later date at Maryland Veterans Cemetery, Cheltenham, MD.

Heather’s legacy of kindness, service, and love will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew her.

Pilar Jeannette Pages, 74, of Owings, Maryland, passed away on November 15, 2025, at her home with her family beside her. She was born on July 19, 1951, in Guayaquil, Ecuador, to Rosa Mercedes (Lopez) and Jaime G. Pages. She moved to the United States in 1978, making New Jersey her new home. In 1982 she married Godofredo Ochoa, and in 2004 they moved to Florida. After Godofredo’s passing in 2009, Pilar remained ever devoted to her family as a Navy mom, moving alongside her daughter wherever her assignments took them. As a home health aide, a certified nurse assistant, and a cosmetologist, Pilar had a flair for helping others feel better and look their best. She enjoyed shopping and enjoying good food. She was an excellent cook out of necessity, and an even better baker out of love. Nothing brought her more joy than spending quality time with her family, especially her grandchildren.

Pilar is survived by her daughter Janet Tattiana Rojas (Mario), grandchildren Tatiana, Mikayla, and Sebastian; brothers Santiago, Ricardo, and Javier Pages; nieces Vicky, Erica, and Jessica Pages, and Teneka Villanueva; nephews Jaime, and Michael Pages, and sister-in-law Sonia Pages. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband Godofredo Ochoa; parents Jaime and Rosa Pages; brother Hugo Pages, and niece Rosario Rimi.

Leroy Karl Burkman, 75, of Port Republic, Maryland, passed away on November 15, 2025. Leroy was preceded in death by his parents Mildred and Pete, brother Billy, and sons Frankie and Ethan. He is survived by his wife Melodie, his children, Bo, Leann, Brandie and Makayla, his granddaughter April, and his siblings, Cookie, Margie, and Jimmy, along with many extended family and friends who cherished him.

Playful, stubborn, capable, and endlessly creative, Leroy brought a unique light wherever he went. A jack- of -all trades, he spent his younger years riding his motorcycle, driving semi trucks, and mastering every skill he put his mind to. He was an exceptionally talented carpenter and known for his creative outlets like woodworking, model cars, and homemade birdhouses. He had a soft spot for animals, especially his most recent companion, his grouchy cat Toulouse, who adored Leroy and only Leroy.

Leroy was a long time member of Church by the Chesapeake on Broomes Island Road, where he found joy in attending Sunday service.

More than anything, Leroy will be remembered for his humor, and his ability to make light of even the toughest situations.  His pranks, home cooked meals, and never ending projects will be memories cherished by his closest loved ones.

Brenda Lee Cusato, 67, of Harwood passed away November 15, 2025. She was born September 16, 1958 to Clarence and Dorothy (Harris) Farrall. Brenda was preceded in death by her husband Anthony Cusato and her sister Regina Langeluttig. She is survived by her children Anthony Cusato Jr. “AJ” and his wife Connie of Huntingtown, Kelly Cusato and her husband Joseph Mister of Harwood, Jason Langeluttig of Shady Side, Ammie Fox and her husband Michael of Phoenix, AZ, and Melissa Langeluttig of Hagerstown, grandchildren Logan, Joshua, Mackenzie, Kaylee, Brantley, Harley, Trevor, Michael, and Nylah, great-granddaughter Taylor, and brother Fuzzy Farrall.

Christopher Shelton Loeffler, 48, passed away on November 13, 2025, at his home in Huntingtown, Maryland, surrounded by his family.

Chris was born on April 9, 1977, in Washington, D.C to David and Kathleen Loeffler. He was raised in North Beach and later moved to Huntingtown. Chris had a spirit of adventure and a zest for life that remained with him throughout his years. He pursued a career as a steamfitter with the local 602, where he specialized in quality control. His dedication to his craft and attention to detail earned him the respect of colleagues and peers alike.

Chris had an adventurous soul and a deep appreciation for the great outdoors. He found joy in hiking through rugged trails, camping under open skies, biking across scenic routes, and exploring the vast beauty of the national parks. Traveling was more than a pastime for Chris – it was a way for him to connect with his children, nature, and embrace new experiences.

Those who knew Chris remember him as kindhearted, funny, and impulsive in the best ways – always ready for the next spontaneous trip or to test out the latest gadget that caught his eye. His energy was infectious, and his presence brought laughter and lightness to those around him.

Chris was a devoted husband to Melanie. Together, they raised two sons, Jack and Connor, and built a loving family. Chris was dedicated to his sons, always encouraging them to try new activities and to follow their dreams.

Chris is survived by his wife Melanie Loeffler; his sons Jack Loeffler and Connor Loeffler; his parents, David and Kathleen “Kathy” Loeffler; his brothers, David Loeffler Jr. (Jennifer Counts), Jarrett Loeffler (Angelique), and Nicholas Loeffler (Karen). Chris is also survived by several nieces and nephews.

May his memory bring comfort to those who knew him and inspiration to live life with curiosity and courage. A visitation will be held on Friday, November 21 at 2:00 PM, followed by a memorial service at 3:00 PM, at Rausch Funeral Home in Owings, Maryland.

Anita Louise Westcott (nee Chelmowski) was born on January 24, 1944, in New York City during the height of the Second World War. She spent much of her infancy in a Catholic orphanage until she was adopted by Walter and Lucille Chelmowski shortly after her first birthday. Despite losing their infant daughter the year before, Walter and Lucy realized they still had much love to give and found their way to Anita’s orphanage.

Anita won the hearts of the couple in classic Anita fashion. She simply strolled over to them and sat on Lucy’s lap while the other children hid or went about their business. She was too young to speak, but knowing our mother, we are sure she was chatting them up in her head in toddler-ese. Even before she could speak, she understood what people needed and she felt compelled to do whatever she could to help.

Anita was particularly close to her dad, whom she often lovingly described as the sweetest man she had ever known. She saw her dad as a model of patience and love – traits he undoubtedly passed along to his daughter. Her relationship with her mom was more complex, but she always ensured her children knew she loved her mom and that our grandmother loved her grandchildren very, very much.

Anita spent much of her childhood in Catholic school and in 1962 was a member of one of the earliest classes to graduate from St. Barnabas Catholic High School for Girls. Her Catholic education and her parents’ steadfast spirituality laid the foundation for a life of faith guided by the Catholic Church. As a teenager, she adored movies and eagerly went to the local cinema every week (sometimes several times a week) to sit in the darkness with popcorn and soda immersed in sweeping stories of love and adventure. She often sat next to her first cousin and best friend, Francis. This was her most cherished “hobby” growing up in NYC.

Following high school, Anita was drawn to the skies and wanted to join the Air Force to learn to fly and serve our country as a US pilot. The times being what they were, this dream ultimately proved out of reach. Her father offered his support, but her mother adamantly opposed her entering the armed forces. Ever the peacemaker, Anita took the path of least resistance and instead attended business school to train as a secretary. Secretarial work was not quite our mom’s calling, but she enjoyed and valued her co-workers and bosses. She often relived stories and spoke about the wonderful folks she worked with. Luckily, her dislike of office life was a good thing because God had other plans for Anita.

In 1963, at the suggestion of a mutual friend named Tony Iannotta, 19 year-old Anita agreed to go on a blind date with 22-year-old Raymond Douglas Westcott, Jr. Raymond had recently graduated from Hunter College with the odd degree of Bachelor of Arts in Physics. After a brief (by today’s standards) courtship, Ray popped the question on March 23, 1964 in a little park in Yonkers, NY. Anita, now twenty, said yes. They were married about 14 months later on May 1, 1965 (a date referred to by the Westcotts as “our family birthday”). On the same day, Lucky Debonair won the Kentucky Derby, which is appropriate since by most accounts Ray did indeed appear debonair on that day and he was, unarguably, incredibly lucky to be marrying Anita.

Following the wedding, Anita bravely left behind her life in The Big Apple to move a few hours south to Maryland with her new husband. We are not certain what movies or news stories dominated the headlines in 1965, but mom and dad apparently felt inspired to add to the population as if they were personally responsible for the continuation of the species. Between 1966 and 1973 (a period of just seven years and three months) Anita gave birth to FIVE children—four beautiful girls, and then her first precious boy.

When asked how she did it, Mom would simply reply, “I don’t remember.” Despite her claim, she often began stories with “I was pregnant with Francine when…” or “Diane was a baby when…” or “It was after Debbie got sick when…” Anita’s psychological will power to survive the ordinary and extraordinary trials of motherhood was a daily display of selfless heroism.

Being the mother of such a large and mischievous brood occupied the bulk of Anita’s time, but she never lost her love of the skies. In what she happily described as an act of rebellion (but would now be considered a needed act of self-care), she enrolled in flight school and learned to fly a Cessna in 1977. Dad not only paid for her lessons, he would proudly shine a spotlight on her accomplishment at parties. Like Indiana Jones, she never learned to land on her own, but she did learn enough to earn her pilot’s license and proudly crossed Flying Planes off her bucket list.

Speaking of bucket lists, Anita had several! When she crossed off too many things (usually with the help of her children), she would add new ones. When asked how she expected to complete her list this way, she replied that finishing was not the point. The dreams were what she wanted to hold on to.

When the last of her five children reached school age, Anita enjoyed the freedom of an empty house in the most “Anita” way possible…she had three more kids in four years. It got to the point that whenever Ray cleared his throat at dinner with his family in New York and bellowed “we have an announcement to make”, everyone knew there would be another Westcott around the table within the year. Fortunately for the younger Westcott kids, Mom passed on her nurturing nature (a true gift) to her older children, who were very active in the little kids care and upbringing. When Dad passed away from cancer in 1996, the youngest three children were still living at home and provided calm and steady support as she found her own footing as a single mom. Her children’s shared sense of responsibility and caring for her and for each other became the foundation of an unbreakable bond between her kids that remains to this day, despite a wide range of personalities and a 20-year age gap between the eldest, Kathleen, and the youngest, Dan.

Like many adopted children, Anita spent her life wondering who she was. At one point, she even got her last name wrong on a lie detector test. Her birth mother gave her daughter several key gifts: biological life, the glamorous name of a movie star (look it up), the Catholic faith, and most profoundly, a chance at a better life. Through Anita’s own tenacity and detective work, she discovered her birth mother’s identity and was rewarded at age 60 with a bouncing baby half-brother, Alan Moch, age 59. They called each other “the country mouse” and “the city mouse” and spoke regularly. Sadly, Alan passed away a few years before Anita.

Anita never had a traditional profession. “Unlicensed therapist” might be the most accurate description. She was, by her own admission, a terrible secretary, although her typing speed was quite impressive. Mom ran her own small business selling wedding invitations and Christmas cards. It was a fitting job for someone who has been described as a walking Hallmark card. Early in motherhood, Anita discovered her passion for crocheting. While an exact count is hard to pin down, it is comforting to know that more than 800 of her crocheted blankets are out in the world giving warm hugs to those who need them. As a tribute to her best friend, Fran, who succumbed to cancer around 1990, Mom happily spent much of her time during the last two decades crocheting “Fran’s Caring Blankets” for cancer patients, including TV personality Joan Lunden, US Congressional Rep. Jamie Raskin, and Maryland Governor Larry Hogan. Her life’s work was spreading warmth and comfort to anyone and everyone throughout the country – East Coast to West Coast… and possibly Alaska and Hawaii, too! If Mom spoke to you for more than 10 minutes, you probably have one of her blankets.

Anita treasured most the family she found throughout her life. She is preceded in death by her parents, Lucy and Walter Chelmowski, her beloved cousin Francis Lacarbonara, her brother Alan Moch, her son-in-law David Hardison, her husband Raymond Westcott, and her daughter Debra Westcott. Her New York and Maryland friends were also always near and dear to her heart. For a woman who came into the world with no one, she leaves behind a great multitude of loved ones who mourn her loss… her children Kathleen Hardison, Diane Westcott, Francine Miles, Raymond Westcott, III, Philip Westcott, Erin Allen, and Daniel Westcott. In addition, there are grandchildren Benjamin Hardison, Colleen, Will, Ian, and Graham Westcott, and Anita and Eli Allen. Mom often said, “I know you kids will miss me when I’m gone, but if your husbands and wives miss me, I’ll know I did something right”. She leaves behind loving sons-in-law Lee Miles and Bryan Allen and daughters-in-law Jessica and Lindsay Westcott.

Ultimately, Anita Louise Westcott was a lady of proud contradictions. She was humble yet stubborn. She did not shy away from solitude but loved talking to people of all walks of life. She loved tall sailing ships but loathed the beach. She never went to college but deserved several PhDs in human psychology. She had the dreams of an explorer but was anxious about the journey, and she was fine with that. She was comfortable in her own skin, confident in her own beliefs and content in body and soul. She will live always through the love we hold in our hearts and as the voice we hear in our heads reminding us to nurture the best parts of ourselves. May we never grow distant from that love or deaf to her voice.

Mary Theresa Morris, 73, of Maryland, passed away peacefully on November 11, 2025. Born on May 14, 1952, in Washington, D.C., to John and Mary Morris, she was raised in Mount Rainier, Maryland, and lived a life filled with love, laughter, and devotion to her family and faith.

Mary graduated from Frostburg University, where she earned her degree in education and began her lifelong passion for teaching. Throughout her career, she taught students of all ages — from preschool to high school — touching countless lives with her patience, warmth, and dedication. She found great joy in nurturing young minds and believed deeply in the power of kindness and compassion.

Family was at the heart of everything Mary did. She cherished every moment spent with her children and grandchildren, celebrating holidays, milestones, and everyday moments surrounded by those she loved most.

Mary enjoyed life’s simple pleasures — curling up with a good book, watching her beloved Hallmark movies, and decorating her home for every season. Her strong Irish spirit and faith guided her throughout her life, and she created a warm, welcoming space wherever she went.

She is survived by her brother, James Edward Morris; her sons, Sean Patrick Hanley (wife Brandi) of Chesapeake Beach, Maryland, and Ryan Michael Hanley (wife Cathy) of St. Leonard, Maryland; her daughter, Kati Maureen Smart (husband Kenny) of Dunkirk, Maryland; and her beloved grandchildren — Tessa Maxson, JJ Maxson, Isla Hanley, Evelynn Buckmaster, Charlotte Buckmaster, and Riley Smart.

Mary was preceded in death by her parents, John and Mary Morris, and her brother, John Morris. She will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered for her generous heart, her humor, and the joy she brought to everyone around her.

Norma Ann Buckmaster, 80 passed away on November 11, 2025, at her home in St. Leonard, Maryland. Norma was born on December 31, 1944, in Washington, DC to Charles and Virginia Kendrick.

Norma, or Nana as she was affectionally known, held several jobs over the years, to include working at Ben Franklin and The Hub in the Prince Frederick Shopping Center. She later worked for Calvert County Public Schools as an Instructional Aide, holding positions at Beach Elementary, Calvert High and Patuxent Elementary. She enjoyed attending craft fairs and listening to country music. George Jones, Patsy Cline, Conway Twitty, Keith Whitley, Toby Keith, and Luke Combs were some of her favorites. She would listen to the American County Countdown every weekend and often ask her son to guess which song was number one that week. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and aunt who will be missed not only by her family, but also by the many friends she made throughout her life here in Calvert County.

Norma is predeceased by her loving husband Samuel “Sammy” Buckmaster, Sr. and her son, Samuel “Ricky” Buckmaster, Jr. (Debbie). She is also predeceased by her parents, Virginia (Myers) Kendrick and Charles S. Kendrick, her brothers, Charles A. Kendrick, William F. Kendrick and Robert H. Kendrick and her sisters, Florence “Flo” Wood, May A. “Bessie” Keefe, Janice L. “Penny” Tyra, Virginia L. Spence and Gladys M. Kendrick.  She is survived by her brother, John J. Kendrick, her children, Gregg M. Buckmaster, Ronald W. Buckmaster and Timothy L. Buckmaster (Jennifer). She is also survived by seven grandchildren, Amy Barrett (Rob), Michelle Buckmaster, Thomas Buckmaster, Alicia Clarke (Justin), Ken Buckmaster, Ryan Buckmaster and Emily Buckmaster, along with six great-grandchildren, Max Barrett, Charlotte Barrett, Henry Barrett, Hunter Barrett, Cannon Fritz, and Frankie Clarke. In addition, she is survived by numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins whom she loved dearly.

Judy L. Fulir, 71, of Hollywood, MD passed away on November 9, 2025 at her residence. Born May 27, 1954 in Pawhuska, OK, she was the daughter of the late Bob Powell and Edith (Lynn) Powell.

Judy is survived by her husband, Mark Fulir; step-children, Melissa and Joseph Fulir; her sister, Bobbie Foreman and husband Mickey; her nieces, Bobbi Jo and Dianna Foreman; and numerous other nieces, nephews, dear friends and her cherished Boston Terriers, Quincy and Angus.

Captain John Thomas Smith, USAF, Ret., passed away peacefully at age 84 after battling a service-connected cancer. He was a man of quiet faith in God who walked the walk. He was loved beyond measure and will be missed deeply.

John led a full and meaningful life. He was born in Kinston, North Carolina, to James Lemmon Smith and Doris Belle Manning. He had to grow up quickly; his mother suffered from debilitating rheumatoid arthritis. John took on the responsibility of cooking, caring for her and his siblings while also completing his schoolwork and farm chores. His integrity, quick wit, kindness, generous heart, love of country and deep desire to serve others shaped the way he lived—always putting others before himself.

Driven by a wish to serve his country, John enlisted in the United States Air Force. Although he began his career in fuels, he spent most of his time in the Air Force Office of Special Investigations (AFOSI). He excelled, earning a Bootstrap Officer Training School slot as a Master Sergeant. After completing the program, he commissioned as a Lieutenant. John loved his work as an AFOSI agent.

John also loved his family fiercely. He met his soulmate, Jo Anne, his wife of 53 years, in a parking lot in Des Moines, Iowa. At first, she paid him little attention, but over time they became friends. When she mentioned she didn’t know how to build a felt board, he took her to the lumber yard—what became the first of many dates. They later married in her home country church in Greene County, Iowa.

One of the many examples of John’s integrity, commitment to service before self, and pursuit of excellence was his willingness to speak truth to leadership, even when it was unwelcome. Shortly afterward, he was sent to Vietnam, where he continued to do the right thing. After returning from Vietnam, John continued his education while working, ultimately earning two bachelor’s degrees and a master’s degree.

By the end of his military career, he had earned many awards, including the Meritorious Service Medal, the Vietnam Gallantry Cross with Palm, the Joint Service Commendation Medal, the Air Force Commendation Medal with one Oak Leaf Cluster, and the Air Force Outstanding Unit Award with Valor Device.

Even after retiring from the Air Force, he lived by its core values—Integrity First, Service Before Self, and Excellence in All We Do—both personally and professionally. He worked for the Omaha Public Power District, founded his own company, and later returned to public service. A recognized expert in physical, nuclear, and cyber security, John worked for the Departments of the Treasury and Interior, as well as the Social Security Administration. His roles included Chief Information Security Officer and Interagency Liaison.

John loved the outdoors, boating, fast cars, and working with his hands to make things better — whether it be computers, cars, boats, landscapes or homes. He also enjoyed bringing home bunches of flowers to Jo Anne. Above all, he made time for his family, whom he loved deeply. He cherished playing with his children and grandchildren.

He is survived by his wife, Jo Anne (Hedges) Smith; his daughter, Andrea (Smith) Busch; and his children from his previous marriage to Carol (Campbell) Reed: son, James Smith, and daughter, Stephanie Smith. Together, the family includes five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. John is also survived by his brother, Freely Smith, and sister-in-law, Ann Smith. He was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Forrest Smith; and his sister-in-law, Samia Smith.

John’s celebration of life will be held on Sunday, November 23, 2025, at Smithville United Methodist Church in Dunkirk, Maryland. Visitation will begin at 1:00 p.m., followed by a service at 2:00 p.m. A graveside service and burial will take place at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, November 29, at Jefferson Cemetery in Jefferson, Iowa.

Robert “Bobby” Lee Kemp, a devoted husband, loving father, and steadfast friend, passed away peacefully at his home and surrounded by family. Born on January 23, 1943, to Sarah Lucille Helmick and Clarence Kemp, Bobby grew up in a home filled with love alongside his siblings Rosie, John, Hubert, and Janet.

At just 16, Bobby answered a call to service and enlisted in the U.S. Navy in 1960. Though his time in uniform was cut short due to medical reasons in 1963, his sense of duty, discipline, and quiet strength never left him. That same year, he married the love of his life, Edith Ann Polcen, beginning a lifelong partnership rooted in devotion. Together, they raised two children, George Steven Kemp and Kimberly Kay Kemp, who were the pride and joy of his life.

A hardworking man through and through, Bobby built a career that reflected his hands-on nature and determination. From his years as an elevator and automobile mechanic to his final role as a dump truck driver for Morgan E. Russell, he approached every job with skill, honesty, and pride.

Bobby was never one to sit still. A true jack of all trades, he could fix, build, or restore just about anything he put his hands on. Whether tinkering in his shed or lending a helping hand to a neighbor, he was happiest when he was making life a little easier for someone else. He enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren as much as he could. Watching football and NASCAR was the little downtime he would allow. His selflessness and kindness touched everyone who had the privilege of knowing him.

To say Bobby will be missed is an understatement. His gentle humor, unwavering generosity, and boundless love for family and friends leave a legacy that will never fade.

Bobby is survived by his wife Edith Kemp, children George Kemp and his wife Tiana of Lusby, Kimberly Wall and her husband Charles of Lothian, and Diane Swododa and her husband Bobo of Huntingtown, grandchildren Nicole Woodard and her husband Brian of Huntingtown, Cynthia Loveless and her husband Robert of St. Leonard, Joshua Kemp of Lusby, Weston Hedrick and his wife Heather of Chesapeake Beach, and Chelsea Hedrick of Huntingtown, and great-grandchildren Robert and Kira Ireland. He was preceded in death by his sisters Rosemarie Harrison and Janet Kemp and brothers John and Hubert Kemp.

Edward Frederick “Eddie” Hosselrode, 86, of Huntingtown, passed away November 8, 2025 at George Washington University Hospital. He was born on May 24, 1939, in Bedford, Pennsylvania, to Mabel (Margraff) and Fred Hosselrode. Edward graduated from military school in Tennessee, then became a certified plumber. He married Virginia “Ginny” Cole in 1970, and they moved to Calvert County in 1974. Edward owned and operated E.F. Hosselrode & Son Plumbing until his retirement. Eddie was an avid outdoorsman who loved going hunting, fishing, and eating crabs with his family.  He set the example of what hard work looks like and knew how to encourage others that they can do anything they put their minds to. He will be remembered for his unconditional love, selfless nature, and willingness to always help those in need.  He has touched our hearts in ways words can’t describe.

Edward is survived by his children, Diane Barnes, Bobbie LeBeck, James Hosselrode, Tommy Hosselrode, and Lesley Edwards; grandchildren Brandon, Collin, and Blake Hosselrode, Sam and Ava LeBeck, Brooke Taylor, Tyler Edwards, Brina Wentz, and Haley Edwards, and by his sister, Marie Roper. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife Ginny Hosselrode, and his parents Fred and Mabel Hosselrode.

Mary Louise Hill, of Lusby MD, born on January 20, 1938 in Hollywood, MD, passed away November 7, 2025 at the age of 87. She was the daughter of Lloyd and Ruth Wible Copsey.

Mary is survived by her children, Clarence Eugene Thomas (Brenda), Edward Lee Thomas (Lynn), Roberta Ann Hall (Larry dec.), Linda Marie Thomas (Kenny), Jane Elizabeth Hill (Cookie), and Renee Lynn Crampton (Gary). She is also survived by her grandchildren, Lee Hall, Tommy Marstin, Nicholas Thomas-Hunt, Wesley Hall, Whitney Thomas, Rachel Hall, Ashley Blancato, Allison Robinson, Mike Crampton and Michelle Guy as well as her great grandchildren, Tommy Marstin, Jr., Alexis Hall, Ava Hall, Alexander Hall, Adrian Robinson, Aliyah Robinson, Abigail Pagel, Aubrey Pagel, Austin Kirby, Dominic Crampton, Aubrey Crampton, Maddie DeMenezes, and great-great grandchild Dominic Crampton, Jr. as well as numerous nieces and nephews. She is also survived by her brother John Copsey, and sisters Clara Wallace and Peggy Faunce. She is predeceased by her husband James Everard Hill, granddaughter Julie Money, brother Lloyd “Bubba” Copsey of Hollywood, brother Francis Copsey of Hollywood, sister Margaret Mister of Solomons, MD, sister Mary Agnes Pilkerton of Avenue, MD, sister Mary E. “Bibby” Thompson of St. Leonard, brother Joe Copsey of Mechanicsville MD, grandson James Howard, granddaughter Julie Money and great granddaughter Jessica Marstin.

Mary worked hard all her life loving and raising her children and helping with grandchildren. She worked a number of jobs over the years, but after her children were grown, she worked at the Pizza Oven in Solomons for 10 years and then Port of Call Liquors 35 years. She was President of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Solomons Volunteer Rescue Squad and Fire Dept. for 20 years since her husband Jimmy, two sons and eventually her daughter were all members. One of her favorite things in the world to do was to play bingo. She could watch a table full of cards and yours too! She was a great cook and would whip up an amazing feast just about every Sunday. There was always plenty and would make room for whoever would walk in at dinner time! She was loved by all and will be greatly missed.

The family will receive friends on Tuesday, November 11, 2025 at the Rausch Funeral Home, 20 American Lane, Lusby, MD 20657 from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. and from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Services will be held on Wednesday, November 12, 2025 at the Rausch Funeral Home at 11:00 a.m. with Interment to follow at the Solomons United Methodist Church, 14454 Solomons Island Road, Solomons, MD.

Pallbearers will be Jerome Church, Ashley Blancato, Billy Jones, Alex Thompson, John Thompson, Steve Weems and Gary Crampton, alternate.

Leonard Eugene “Lenny” Durnbaugh Sr., 79, of Chesapeake Beach, Maryland, passed peacefully at home on November 7, 2025. Born December 18, 1945, in Washington, D.C., Lenny was the son of the late William Franklin Durnbaugh and Hazel Evelyn Gray Durnbaugh.

Lenny was the devoted husband of 58 years to Judith Marie Leone Durnbaugh. Together they built a loving family that was his greatest achievement. He is survived by his children: Leonard Eugene “Toby” Durnbaugh Jr. and wife Kelly of Chesapeake Beach; Joseph Trent “Trent” Durnbaugh and wife Marsha of Lusby; and John Anthony “Tony” Durnbaugh of Chesapeake Beach. He was a proud grandfather to Rachael Hoban and husband Craig, Drew Durnbaugh and wife Morgan, Christian, and Cole; step-grandfather to Lexi and Braelyn; and great-grandfather to Jay Hoban. Lenny also leaves behind many beloved sisters- and brothers-in-law, nieces, and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents as well as by his brother William “Billy” Durnbaugh Jr. and sister Joyce Hullings.

Lenny honorably served his country in the United States Navy aboard the USS Intrepid during the Vietnam War. After his service, he returned home and pursued a successful career as an electrician, joining the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers until his retirement in 2009.

A man of many passions, Lenny coached youth baseball , played softball, and loved spending time on the water aboard his boat. He was an avid golfer, proudly achieving two holes-in-one—one on hole 5 at Twin Shields and one on hole 13 at Chesapeake Hills. He also enjoyed the excitement of playing slots and bingo at the Rod ‘N’ Reel.

Lenny will be remembered for his wry sense of humor, and the countless memories he created with family and friends.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, November 12th from 2:00–4:00 PM and 6:00–8:00 PM at Rausch Funeral Home in Owings, Maryland.

Funeral Service will take place on Thursday, November 13th at 11:00 AM at Rausch Funeral Home.

Interment will follow at a later date at Cheltenham Veterans Cemetery.

Daniel Lester Boesz

May 21, 1943 – November 6, 2025

Daniel Boesz passed away unexpectedly on November 6, 2025 at his home in Scientists’ Cliffs in Port Republic, MD at the age of 82.

Dan was born in Bridgeton, NJ to Frederick Arthur Boesz and Leona Shimp Boesz. He was the middle child of the family, survived by his younger brother Arthur and predeceased by his older brother Robert. Dan grew up working on a dairy farm milking cows, planting crops and harvesting hay until he left for college at Rutgers University in New Brunswick, NJ. At the farm and later during his years at Rutgers, Dan learned many lessons that served him for the rest of his life including the value of hard work, the importance of a good education, a respect for the opinions of others, a love of reading and the desire to learn something new every day.

Dan met the love of his life, Christine (Tina) Clark while they were students. They were married on June 26, 1965, shortly after Dan graduated from Rutgers. He then served in the United States Air Force as a flight instructor during the Vietnam War years. Dan continued his military service in the Air Force Reserve while employed as a commercial pilot, first for Eastern Airlines, and later as a captain for United Airlines. He was called up for active duty during Operation Desert Storm where he was a squadron leader flying supplies and personnel through the combat zones of the Middle East. He retired from the Air Force with the rank of colonel, remembered fondly as the “old man” by the men he commanded.

Dan and Tina had a second home in Kauai for many years which they purchased with four other friends. Some of his happiest times were the weeks, then months, spent in Kauai where he, Tina and his friends, a group of fellow snowbirds and island year rounders, shared a love of Kauai’s magnificent mountains and beaches, its rich culture and its aloha spirit. Dan embraced it all, from his vast collection of custom-made Hawaiian shirts, to his eagerness to share the island’s many ancient legends and his admiration for the Hawaiian people.

Dan surrounded himself with circles of friends which he called his hui, the Hawaiian word for a community of those who are tied together in friendship and support for one another. Dan had several huis including his many dear friends in Maryland and Kauai. He also adored the families of his two God children, Kelly Doda of St. Helena, CA and her husband Allen and daughter Josie, and Chester Yue of Tampa, FL and his wife Lydia and daughters Christine and Lynna. To be a member of one of Dan’s huis was, in his eyes, to be someone who could do no wrong and for whom he could never do enough.

Dan and Tina had a nearly insatiable desire to travel and see the world. Together they explored the Arctic and Antarctic regions, Europe, Africa, China and Australia. He especially loved cruising and adventure travel, and continued to travel widely after Tina’s death in 2013.

Back in Maryland, Dan was a founding member and longtime supporter of the American Chestnut Land Trust (ACLT) where he also served on one of its first board of directors. He also served ACLT as a dedicated, hard-working volunteer for over thirty-five years. He hiked the trails in the land trust nearly every day and encouraged anyone he encountered along the way to join and get involved in ACLT.

Dan will be sorely missed by the hundreds of people whose lives he touched who will remember his infectious smiles, boundless energy and generous spirit.

Brent George Loveless, age 54, of Owings, passed away unexpectedly on the 6th of November while on a hunting trip with his youngest son.

Brent was born in 1971, the youngest son to Everett and Patricia Loveless where he grew up with his brothers Robert, Bryan and Barry on the family farm in Owings.

He was a proud graduate of Northern High School in 1989, where soon after he found his niche in the construction industry, developing a career as a crane operator. He was first an operator at Bay Metal Works but soon mastered the art of running a small crane and started his own company, Brent’s Crane Services. It did not take long for Dunkirk Supply to take notice of his talents, passion and presence at every construction job in Southern Maryland. Dunkirk Supply brought Brent into the company, opening two new successful sections to their services, a crane division followed by a steel division. All these accomplishments would lead Brent into the big leagues of the crane world and become the head dispatcher for Crane Service Company.

He enjoyed hunting and crabbing in his earlier adulthood but as his family grew, his happiness shifted more toward them. Brent became a devoted father, making a point to be involved with their activities and attend every event between his four children. Even in their adulthood he would go to cheer on each of them in various moments of life.

He always found great joy in his family and was delighted when he was blessed with grandchildren. As going camping with his kids became more of a fond memory, Brent decided the tradition could be continued with his granddaughter. He remastered the art (or preparation) of camping and took as many trips as he could with family and friends. He loved the many group trips where all were welcome at his site in the mornings for a breakfast feast.

His world revolved around his grandkids, throughout the year each would be spoiled with the latest surprise their Pop-Pop had in mind.

A strong believer in community and doing things that were good for others, Brent was well known throughout the county for his generous heart and loving nature. Holidays were moments for Brent’s heart to shine. Halloween weekends on the campground held a decorated site, coordinated costumes with his two grandchildren and enough candy for each kid to come around thrice. When Christmas came around, the family knew that the Grinch had always been his favorite Christmas figure, so when his granddaughter fell in love with the green cheermister, it was only right that he bring the Grinch to life in Calvert. For any Christmas event they could attend, his oldest brother, Robert, would be the beloved Santa and Brent would portray the Grinch, bringing along his granddaughter as their sweet Cindy Lou Who.

Although Brent is gone, he will be held in the hearts of many. Brent is survived by his mother Patricia Loveless; loving partner Tina Sleeper; his children, William Loveless and wife Brianna, Alanis Loveless, Joseph Brooks, Kory Loveless and bonus child Bethany Higgs; brothers, Robert Loveless and wife Maria, Bryan Loveless and wife Stacie and Barry Loveless; his grandchildren, Harper Kalnoskas and Wesley Loveless; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends Brent was preceded in death by his father, Everett Loveless and sister-in-law, Sondra Loveless.

In lieu of flowers, the family would like to continue Brent’s tradition of helping families in need during the holiday season. There will be a donation box at the funeral home to receive gift cards, and the family will be distributing them to schools throughout the county.

Charles Edwin “Chuck” Martin, 95, of Prince Frederick, passed away on November 6, 2025, at his home. He was born on March 14, 1930, in Tyler, TX, to D.B. and Mary Ethel (Heath) Martin.

Chuck spent his childhood moving between southeast Oklahoma and northeast Texas and graduated from Gladewater High School in Gladewater, TX. He began college at 16, enrolling at Texas A&M University where he attended one semester before transferring to North Texas State University. After a couple of semesters there, he decided to withdraw and join the United States Air Force and went on to have a distinguished 20-year career.

Chuck was originally assigned to Bolling Air Force Base and soon after, transferred to Andrews Air Force Base in Camp Springs, MD. While stationed at Andrews, Chuck met Jennie Rosmondo at Walter Reed Medical Center while recovering from an accident. They were married on October 7, 1950. Soon after, he was assigned to the Hurricane Hunters at Kindley Air Force Base in Bermuda. Chuck and the “Hunters” were relocated to Burtonwood AFB England where he served for another year before being transferred to Travis AFB in Fairfield, CA. Another short tour of duty there resulted in reassignment in 1955 back again to Andrews in MD. In the summer of 1957, Chuck was assigned to support the ROTC program at Kansas State University in Manhattan, KS. While working there, he completed his education and earned a bachelor’s degree in business.

In 1962, he was assigned to Kunsan AFB South Korea for one year and then came back to MD and Andrews. After supporting the Equipment Management Office (EMO) for 5 years, he received one final assignment and was deployed to Misawa AFB, Japan during the Vietnam War. After returning once again to Andrews, in February 1969 Chuck retired from the USAF, concluding a long and successful military career.

After his retirement from military service, he worked for the C&P Telephone Company, retiring in 1991 as a second-level manager in real estate lease management.

Chuck was a member of St. John Vianney Catholic Church and a former member of the Knights of Columbus. In his spare time, he enjoyed golfing, boxing (in his younger years), gardening, word and number puzzles, “Spinners”, researching family history, spending time with animals, and taking walks with his dog. He was also an avid fan of the Washington Redskins and even worked part-time on weekends early in his military career keeping stats for the team. He was a fan of the Washington Senators and later the Washington Nationals.

Most importantly, Chuck was a devoted family man and thoroughly enjoyed spending time with his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.

Chuck was preceded in death by his wife, Jennie Martin, his parents DB and Ethel, brother Pete, and sister Lula. He is survived by his brother Harold Martin; children, Robert Martin (Sing) of Waldorf; Linda Johnson (Steve) of Houston, TX; David Martin (Susan) of Prince Frederick; and Cathy Martin of Chesapeake Beach; grandchildren, Michael Martin, Charles (Rhett) Martin, Stephen Martin, Maria Martin, Deanna Baran, Patricia Johnson, Christopher Johnson, William Johnson, Ana Lomb, Erica Cooke, and David B. Martin; 15 great-grandchildren; and many more nieces, nephews and cousins.

Anita Carol Bland, 62, of Elk Garden, West Virginia, passed away November 6, 2025, following a brief illness, surrounded by family.

Born September 8^th, 1963, in Detroit, Michigan, she was preceded in death by her father Billie D. Blevins.  She lived a fulfilling life raising her two children, running a successful business, caring for her cats, dogs and goat, and enjoying the quiet of the home she worked so hard to build.

In 1986, Anita married Charles Bland III, and together they made their home in Calvert County, Maryland. For forty years, they shared an unbreakable bond, spending each day together in a unique and enduring love that lasted a lifetime.

A woman of remarkable independence and determination, Anita took great pride in her ability to learn and perfect new skills. She devoted countless hours to home projects, renovating two homes in the process. She delighted in sharing her knowledge with others, often beginning her advice with the familiar words, “What you have to do is…” Anita spent forty years with the family business, Engineering Plastics, Inc., where she served as General Manager and Partner, playing a vital role in the company’s growth and success. Upon her retirement, she and Charlie relocated to Elk Garden, West Virginia, where they enjoyed a peaceful life together.

She is survived by her husband of forty years, Charles Bland III; daughters Andrea Zurkan (Josh) of Mechanicsville, Maryland, and Jessica Hall (Keith) of Hoover, Alabama; six grandchildren—Alexis, Grayson, Annabelle, Isabella, Teddy, and Jasmine; and brothers Darrell (Venus) and Dale (Leslie) Blevins of Castlewood, Virginia, Vincent (Beth) Blevins of Stafford, Virginia, and Ernest (Jerri) Blevins of Hull, Georgia, as well as several nieces and nephews.

Viewing and memorial services will be held at Rausch Funeral Home in Port Republic, Maryland on Monday, November 17^th, 2025. The family will receive visitors from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. with the service beginning at 11:00 a.m.

Thomas Edward Harbaugh, Sr., 83, of Chesapeake Beach passed away November 3, 2025. He was born November 23, 1941 in Washington, DC to James Austin and Arlene (Wishard) Harbaugh. Tom worked for the Office of Naval Intelligence for over 30 years, retiring in 2011. Tom was an avid tennis player and coach. He coached and taught tennis lessons for 35 years and started the tennis program at Northern High School. He was also the assistant basketball coach for many years at Northern and Huntingtown High Schools with head coach and good friend Rick Weber.

Tom was preceded in death by his wife Irene Harbaugh, granddaughter Leah Clark, and brothers William and Ray Harbaugh. He is survived by his daughter Fran Clark of Chesapeake Beach, sons Ted Harbaugh of Corvallis, OR, Sam Harbaugh and his wife Mellissa of Churchton, and Ryan Harbaugh and his wife Jennifer of Huntsville, AL, 6 grandchildren, 4 great-grandchildren, and brothers James and Freddie Harbaugh.

Billy Ray Wolber, 80, of Port Republic, Maryland, passed away peacefully on November 3, 2025.  Born on August 8, 1945, in La Junta, Colorado, Billy lived a life defined by quiet strength, dedication, and care for his family and friends.

A proud veteran, Billy served his country honorably in the U.S. Navy, an experience that shaped his character and discipline. Following his service, he went on to build a long and distinguished career at the Government Printing Office in Washington DC, where he worked for almost 40 years.

Billy enjoyed golfing, bowling, playing the lottery, fixing things in the house and yard, finding sharks’ teeth, and spending time with his family.  He is survived by his wife Joyce, his children Kerry, Kathryn, and David, his son-in-law Joey, grandsons Andrew and Levi, sisters Betty, Charlotte, and Charlene, and brother Scott.

Charles Reid Hutchins passed away peacefully on November 02, 2025, All Souls Day in Venice, Florida. He was preceded in death by his loving wife Joan. He and Joan had two sons, Michael and Stephen and daughter-in-law Mary. He was also the proud Grandfather of Justin, David, and Megan, and great granddaughter, McKenna.

Charles Reid was the third child of four born to Reid and Connie Hutchins. His siblings are Constance, Raymond, (deceased) and Tim. In addition to Charles Reid’s family of birth he also had a wonderful subsequent family following the death of his mother. His father eventually remarried a local school teacher, Ailene Mohler. Thus, expanding the original family to include children Phil, Ann, Johnny (deceased), and David.

As life progressed after Charles Reid’s original marriage, he met Peggy Parker and that friendship brought them together, forging a very dear and enduring bond over the years.

Charles Reid was known simply as “Chuck” by his friends. He was born and raised in Southern Maryland on a tobacco farm and was guided by his community heritage and the Catholic faith. A graduate of Calvert County High School and later American University, he went on to have a thirty-year career with the Maryland State Police (MSP). At the time of his retirement, he was the Commander of the MSP Aviation Division.

After retirement from the MSP, Chuck went on to serve as part of the Federal Emergency Management Agency Response Team, taking part in the aftermath of many disasters to include hurricanes, tornadoes, and floods. Additionally, he was one of those who responded in the early hours following the bombing of the Murrah Federal Building in Oklahoma City and the World Trade Center attack on September 11th in New York.

Charles Reid led a life of service to the community and at state and federal levels, reflecting his faith and upbringing in a quiet family farming setting with a strong ethic of helping others.

Theresa Marie (Marcus) Manas, 70, of Harwood, passed away on November 1, 2025, surrounded by her family. She was born on December 16, 1954, in Cheverly to Aubrey and Mary (Gaffney) Marcus and was raised in the College Park area. Theresa married her husband Bruce on March 20, 1976, and together they settled in Harwood in 1986 after starting their family.

Theresa dedicated her life to her family as a loving mother of five daughters and a proud grandmother of seven. Her greatest joy came from being with her family—whether it was cheering on her daughters, coaching their lacrosse teams, or simply spending time together.

She also enjoyed her work as a food and beverage manager at several golf courses, where her warmth, humor, and ability to connect with people made her a favorite among staff and guests. Outside of work, Theresa loved to travel, shop, and make lasting memories with those closest to her.

Throughout her life, Theresa faced every challenge with remarkable strength and grace. After being diagnosed with multiple sclerosis, and later cancer, she met both with determination and courage, even reaching near remission. Her resilience and positive spirit inspired everyone around her.

Theresa is survived by her devoted husband of almost 50 years, Bruce, and their daughters Serena, Kim, Kristy (Stephen), Nikki (Chris) and Cara. She is also survived by her seven grandchildren—Dylan, Teigan, Declan, Nixon, Ainsley, Rylie, and Bruce, as well as her brother, John Marcus, as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents and her brother, Michael Marcus.

Theresa will be remembered for her unwavering love of family, her kindness, and her incredible ability to find joy and laughter no matter the circumstance.

Joan Marie Myers, 86, of Solomons, Maryland, entered into rest peacefully on October 30, 2025.

Born on September 29, 1939, in New York City, Joan was the daughter of the late Grace and Thomas Joseph Moriarty. She grew up in Wappingers Falls, New York, and graduated from Wappingers Central School District. On January 19, 1963, she married the love of her life, Kenneth J. Myers II, and together they built a beautiful life, raising five children.

Joan’s life was one of devotion—to her family, her friends, and her faith. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and sister who will be remembered for her kindness, warmth, and generous spirit. After raising her family in New York, she and Kenneth moved to Florida in 1986 and later settled in Maryland in 1993, where she spent her later years surrounded by the people and places she loved.

She was predeceased by her beloved husband, Kenneth; her sons, Stephen and Thomas; and her brothers, George, Thomas, and Jim.

Joan is survived by her three daughters, Jacqueline, Kathy, and Karen; her sister, Peggy; five grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, and dear friends who will cherish her memory always.

A visitation will be held on Wednesday, November 12, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Rausch Funeral Home, 20 American Lane, Lusby, MD 20657. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow on Thursday, November 13, at 11:00 a.m. at Our Lady Star of the Sea Catholic Church, Solomons Island, MD 20688. Interment will be private

Jackie Roy Shelton, 82, of Huntingtown, MD, passed away on October 30, 2025 at his home. Jackie was born on June 1, 1943 in Indian Head, MD, to Anna Shelton. Jackie attended public school in Charles County, graduated from high school and went on to serve in the United States Army as a Military Police Officer from 1960 until 1964. He married Alice Marie Dixon in 1965, and lived in Riverdale before moving to Calvert County in 1976. He worked as a meat cutter for A&P, Giant, and Safeway stores all over the state until his retirement. Jackie was also a charter boat captain and came to own several watercrafts throughout his lifetime, all of them constructed traditionally out of wood. He enjoyed fishing on the Chesapeake Bay, and spending quality time with his many friends.

Jackie is survived by his son, Michael Scott Murphy; his brother Bobby Shelton; nephew Robbie Shelton, and niece Sandy Shelton. He was preceded in death by his mother Anna Shelton.

“Sally” Sarah Frances Fuller, 78, of Chesapeake Beach, MD, passed away October 29, 2025. She was born March 4, 1947 in Lincoln, NE, to Arthur Patrick and Harriett Jane (Hill) Sullivan. Alumna of Pius X High School in Lincoln and student of American art at the University of Nebraska. Married Rex L. “Mike” Fuller III on June 21, 1969, in Lincoln. They lived in Oklahoma, Michigan, Virginia, Washington, DC, Germany, Alabama, and California while Rex served in the U.S. Air Force, eventually settling in Southern Maryland.

Sally started and ran a successful competition sportswear business turning fabric into anything and stitching beauty into everyday life. She worked as a retail manager at Nordstrom for 17 years, excelling in people development as a manager and simultaneously achieving top seller status, something so rare and difficult few have ever done it. She enjoyed traveling, fossiling, dancing, cooking, reading, collecting (including shells, rocks, keys, and blue and white china), rose gardening, and caring for adopted cats. She was, of course, an avid Nebraska football fan. Most of all, she was a magnet for children, unfailingly delighting them.

Sally is survived by her loving husband Rex, daughter Quinn Cathleen Hill (Morgan), grandson Sullivan Hill, of Harwood, MD, siblings Patricia Duff (late, Norman), John Sullivan (Patty), and Margaret Harms (Michael), brothers-in-law Gregory, Douglas (Julie), and Patrick Fuller, sister-in-law Crista Governanti, and nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her son Evan Michael Fuller, sister Mary Knapp, parents Arthur and Harriett Sullivan, and in-laws Rex Jr. and Mary (Vanhooser) Fuller.

Elizabeth Katherine “Betty” Doyle, 88, of Barefoot Bay, FL, passed away on October 29, 2025 at her daughter’s home in Owings, MD.

Betty was born and raised in Brooklyn, NY. Her family moved to Mastic Beach, NY, in 1967. Betty was a well-loved office manager at Casola Well Drillers in Mastic Beach for decades. Her hobbies included swimming, ceramics, and going on cruises. Her “house in the country” with a pool was the gathering place for many family celebrations. Betty always made birthdays and holidays special. She was known for sending out cards to family for every single occasion. Betty loved to shop for a good bargain, then she would share her treasures with her family and children. In 2001, Betty and her husband Sam retired to Barefoot Bay, FL. Betty was an active volunteer at St. Luke’s Thrift Store and Palm Bay Chamber of Commerce for many years. She always enjoyed social events with her Florida friends and social clubs. Every summer, Betty visited Owings, MD with her daughter Liz and her family. Betty recently celebrated her 88th birthday. She cherished the visits and wishes from lifelong friends and family. She will be remembered for her beautiful spirit and kindness.

Betty is survived by her children, Liz Phelps (Glenn) of Owings, MD, Carolyn Neale of Palm Bay, FL, Eugene Neale of Las Vegas, NV, and Robert Neale (Cathy) of Palm Bay, FL; grandchildren Heather (Paloma) Neale, Candace Neale, Jeffrey (Lydia) Phelps, Laura (Josh) Murray, and Brandon Phelps; great-grandchildren Anthony, Niko, and Elliott. She was preceded in death by her parents, William and Elizabeth (Doths) Abair, and her beloved husband John “Sam” Doyle.

Judith Hosley Mullen, 79, of Lewes, DE and a long time resident of Calvert County passed away October 28, 2025. She was born October 3, 1946 in Worchester, MA to Zibia Witham and Esther J. (Dandurand) Hosley. She is survived by her brothers Jack Hosley and his wife Michelle and Jim Hosley and his wife Theresa, niece Elizabeth Hosley, nephews Kyle Hosley and his wife Samantha and Kevin Hosley and his wife Chelsi, 5 great nieces and nephews, stepson Kirk Adams and his wife Melissa and their children Kyle and Amanda Adams.

Carolyn Louise Young, 74, of Dunkirk passed away October 27, 2025. She was born on November 25, 1950, in Washington, DC to Ernest and Rita Anne (Gunnell) Oliver. Carolyn grew up in Hillside, MD and graduated from Central Sr. High School. She later attended the University of Maryland where she graduated with a bachelor’s degree in education and went on to obtain her master’s degree from Bowie State University. Carolyn was a dedicated schoolteacher for many years. She started her career at Clinton Christian School and later taught at Mt. Harmony Elementary School where she retired in 2003. After retirement she moved to Las Vegas where she became a blackjack dealer. In 2006 Carolyn moved back to Maryland and continued teaching, working as a substitute teacher in various Calvert County schools with the last 3 years at Northern Middle School. Carolyn was a member of Calvert Grace Church and in her spare time she enjoyed sewing, quilting, embroidery, cross-stitching, gardening, and making her famous peanut butter balls. Carolyn loved children and was a devoted educator. She will be greatly missed.

Carolyn was preceded in death by her husband Allen Bryan Young. She is survived by her children James Moore and his wife Tina of Manassas, VA, Jason Moore and his wife Hope of Huntingtown, Jaime Moore of Brownsville, PA, and Joy Jordan and her husband Derrick of Drayden, MD, 12 grandchildren, 3 great-grandchildren, and siblings Barbara Goodwin and Dana Oliver.

Charles Gary Phipps, Sr., 68, of Harwood, MD known to friends and colleagues as Gary passed away October 26, 2025 surrounded by his family. He was born June 23, 1957 in Annapolis, MD to Thelma H. (Catterton) and Gordon E. Phipps, Sr., known as “Stump” He was raised in Harwood and graduated from Southern Senior High School in 1975. Gary was a union carpenter with Washington D.C. Local 197 and was employed with the Clevenger Corporation for many years until he retired.

Gary married Donna M. Webster on July 29, 2006, and they lived and raised their family in Harwood. Gary loved working on projects, spending time outdoors, bowling, offshore deep-sea fishing, camping, 4-H activities, time with his children, and family pool parties and gatherings.

Gary was preceded in death by his parents, brother Gordon E. Phipps, Jr., and brother-in-law Morris Brown. He is survived by his wife Donna Phipps, son Charles G. “Chucky” Phipps, Jr. of Washington, D.C., daughter Megan B. Jones and husband Michael Jones, Sr. of Annapolis, sons Connor E. Phipps and Michael O. Demer, both of Harwood, daughter Lisa M. Demer of St. Mary’s County, MD, and grandson Michael H. Jones, Jr. He is also survived by sisters Beverly Brown of Harwood, Carol Ann Owen (Carl) of Annapolis, Gladys Wilde (Thalbert) of Lusby, and Karen Dunn (Dennis) of Ellicott City, and by many loving neices and nephews.
