Thomas Nathan "Tucker" Clark

Thomas Nathan “Tucker” Clark, 82, of Dunkirk, Maryland, passed away peacefully on July 4, 2026 in Annapolis, MD. He was born on April 4, 1944, at the former Leland Hospital in Riverdale, to Annie Lily (Tippett) and Benjamin Franklin Clark. Tucker grew up in Brentwood and Bowie, Maryland alongside his five siblings.

As a young man, he was an avid coin and toy train collector which continued throughout his life. Tucker also enjoyed going on fishing and hunting trips with his brothers and playing cards with family and friends.

Tucker joined the United States Army ranking as an Armored Intel Specialist stationed in Munich, Germany. While serving, Tucker earned the National Defense Service Medal for Rifle Sharpshooter. After serving, he returned home to Bowie.

At the age of 16, he began serving his community as a volunteer firefighter at the Old Bowie Huntington Fire Station. Once returning home from the Army, Tucker continued his passion of firefighting as a contracted firefighter for the Old Bowie Huntington Fire Station 19 before its absorption into Prince George’s County Fire & EMS. During his career with PGFD, he was a member of the PGFD 2nd Battalion Softball Team and participated for many years in their annual MDA Softball Tournament. Although stationed throughout PG County, his heart belonged to the Bowie Stations and neighboring Glenn Dale Station.

Tucker retired from P.G. County Fire & EMS Bowie Station in 1992 after twenty-eight years of service as a Fire Technician. He remained a Lifetime Volunteer Member of Bowie VFD.

He married Darlene Elizabeth Flora on June 22, 1968, and they made their home in Davidsonville before moving to Dunkirk in 1989. He loved to keep busy with his personal projects at home and was particularly skilled at repairing and restoring antique furniture for his wife’s family business. Tucker was always up to camping, fishing and attending events with his family. As a father, he was a mentor and teacher to his children and loved spending time with his grandchildren.

Never one to sit idly, he soon went on to work as a “go to” person and small engine mechanic for a local nursery/landscaping business for 20 plus years.

Tucker is survived by his daughter, Elizabeth Sanden Nose (Ty); his son, Thomas Nathan Clark, Jr. and his grandchildren, Morgan, Elyssa, Ashley, and Nathan Clark; his siblings, John Clark, Barbara Tucker, Linda Earls, and Danny Clark. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Darlene Elizabeth Clark; his parents, Benjamin and Annie Clark, and his brother, George Clark.
