Warren Michael Callis, Sr., 75, of North Beach passed away January 25, 2021. He was born May 15, 1945 in Washington, DC to Robert Warren and Anna Regina (Jennings) Callis. Warren grew up in Camp Springs and graduated from Surrattsville High School. He later attended the University of Maryland. Warren married Barbara Buckler in 1972 and they have called North Beach home for 48 years. Warren held many jobs throughout his life. He was employed as a service technician with a phone company before opening and operating Warren’s Liquors in North Beach. After closing the store in the early 1980’s, Warren went to work at his family business, North Beach IGA. He then went to work as a service technician with Trend Air and later as a pipefitter for A&J Plumbing and Natural Gas, before retiring in 2002. Following retirement, Warren worked part time with Buckler Nursery and D&B Pools. He was also instrumental in helping his grandson William start Grass Tech Lawn Services. Warren was a member of St. Anthony’s Catholic Church, the former Town of North Beach Police Commissioner from 1986-1990 and a North Beach Town Council member from 1986-1994. Warren also coached youth basketball and little league baseball. In his spare time, he enjoyed being on the water, boating, crabbing, shooting pool, golfing, and skiing. He also loved traveling to Myrtle Beach and his family vacation home in Golden Beach, in which he helped design. Most of all, Warren loved spending time with his family and will be greatly missed by all.
Warren is survived by his loving wife Barbara Ann Callis, son Warren M. Callis, Jr. and his wife Carla of Leesburg, VA and daughter Stephanie Richardson and her boyfriend Scott Arnold of Glen Burnie, grandchildren Donnie Richardson and his wife Tamara, William Callis and his wife Shelby, Bryce Callis and his girlfriend Tiffany, Alex Callis, Dominick Richardson and his fiancé Kaity, Capri Callis, Damian Richardson, Dalton Richardson, and Nicholas Callis, great-grandchildren Liam, Brayden, Lanie, and Paisley Callis, and siblings Robert Thomas Callis and his wife Jackie, Jeannette Austin and her husband Dennis, Kathleen Roach, and Jack Callis and his wife Diane. He was preceded in death by his daughter Melanie Wahlgren, sister Joan Ward and parents Robert and Anna Callis.
Due to Covid-19 restrictions there will be a limit of no more than 25 people in the chapel. The service will be livestreamed on the Rausch Funeral Home Facebook page on Wednesday, February 3 starting at 10:55 AM and can be accessed by using the following link https://www.facebook.com/RauschFH/.
