Martha Irene Humm

February 13, 1940 – February 4, 2014

Martha Irene Humm, 73, of Owings passed away February 4, 2014 at her residence. She was born February 13, 1940 in Washington, D.C. to Eugene and Irene (Whitt) Wayson. Martha was raised in Cumberstone, now Harwood, and graduated from Southern High School. She was primarily a homecare nurse and worked for Drs. Wilson, Wirth, and Jones. More recently, Martha was a greeter at the Walmart in Dunkirk. She married Josef Humm on April 27, 1968. Martha enjoyed crocheting, sewing, cooking, and spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-granddaughter.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Josef. Martha is survived by daughters Lisa I. Ritter and husband George of Ridgely, MD, and M. Beki Simmons and husband Robert of Chattanooga, TN, and a son Joseph Humm and wife Inky of Owings, MD. Also surviving are grandchildren Brandon J., Ashton M., and Megan J. Humm, all of Owings, a great-granddaughter Brooklyn J. Humm of Chesapeake Beach, a brother Eugene Wayson, and a sister Barbara J. Hartge and husband Buddy, all of Owensville, MD.
