Mark William McCormick
August 25, 1962 – February 12, 2023
Mark was born in Washington, DC to Perry William and Marjorie Ellen (Fels) McCormick. They lived, along with his siblings, in Oxon Hill, MD where he was active in the Oxon Hill Boys & Girls Club and graduated from Oxon Hill High School in 1980. He was a member of Oxon Hill United Methodist Church and later Trinity United Methodist.
He earned his Associate in Arts degree in Drafting Technology from Prince George’s Community College in 1985 before attending Old Dominion University and later St. Mary’s College of MD where he studied music.
Mark’s love of music was vast, from Pink Floyd to Metallica, classical to alternative rock. He was proficient in trumpet, baritone, guitar, and keyboard and collected many instruments over the years.
The majority of his career was with Siemens Industry, Inc. where he held many positions: Solutions Technician, Branch Procurement Manager, Service Technician Senior, and most recently Client Service Manager.
He served his community as part of the Board of Directors of Oxon Hill Recreation Club (OHRC), Whispering Woods HOA, and the Calvert Soccer Association.
Mark and Lisa met at OHRC as members of the swim team and as lifeguards. They began dating in July 1987, got engaged on the beach in Ocean City, MD in Dec. 1989, and married in June 1991. They lived in Oxon Hill, MD initially and moved to Prince Frederick, MD in 2003.
Their children Marisa and Matthew were his greatest pride and joy. He is also survived by his sisters Cheryl and Mary McCormick, along with nieces Kate Weller (Jason) and Liz Andrews, nephews Graham Andrews, Perry, Kyle and Aaron McCormick, and great-nephew Wyatt Weller. He is predeceased by his parents and his brother George McCormick.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in memory of Mark William McCormick may be made to the American Heart Association or his son Matthew’s college fund.
