John Joseph Noel, 81, of Solomons, Maryland (formerly of Waldorf, Maryland), was born in Washington, DC November 28, 1938 and passed away on April 8, 2020 from complications of pneumonia. He was preceded in death by his parents Joseph and Ethel Noel, sister Jeanne Pryble and daughter-in-law Mary Noel. He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Angela; children Brian and Mark of George Town, Grand Cayman Island and Renee of Chapel Hill, NC; sisters, Anne Barnes and Josephine Tartisel; five grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. John was the president and owner of Noel Sheet Metal Fabrication, which he started in 1980. Prior to that he was a mechanic with sheet metal Local 100 union contractors. John was a volunteer for the reconstruction of the steeple at St. Joseph’s Church in Pomfret, Maryland, a softball coach for SMYO, and involved in many other community events. John also was an avid Washington Nationals and Redskins fan, and thoroughly enjoyed cheering on the Nationals at several playoffs and World Series games in 2019. He was a friend to many and dearly loved his family, as well as spending summers tending to his garden.

John Joseph was my brother in law whom I will dearly miss after being married to my lovely sister Angie for many years and raising 3 amazing children. Although I live in California, it was good to visit with John not only in his family home, but also at many family gatherings over the years. John was a successful business owner and was dedicated to his family. My sincerest sympathies go out to my sister Angie, their wonderful children and grandchildren. May John forever rest in peace.

I would like to send my condolences to the Noel Family Angie, Mark, Brian, and Renee I always enjoyed our Golf outings down at the Indian Head Military Base Golf Course when I would schedule my materials pickup from John, we sure did have a good time even though my golf game was not as good as John’s it still was a fun time. He also would invite me to a Redskins game as well and that was a blast always especially when going in the R.V. with a designated driver and Presidential parking at the old R.F.K. Stadium, John was truly a good friend and Mentor to the trade and will be missed by all, I pray for the family and also so glad that I got to know John and his family take care John and say hello to Dad.

Andy and I are so very sorry for your loss, Angie. John was a great friend to Andy, and we know how much he loved his family, his garden, his boating and those Fabulous Hubcaps. In fact, we won’t be able to hear of them again without thinking about how John was such a fan. Please know that we are here for you, and let us know what you need. With love and sympathy, Chris & Andy Cummings.

Our most heartfelt condolences to the Noel family. We are so sorry for your loss.

We knew John casually—would see him down at the garden where we had an adjoining plot. Always tried to get him to tell us his secret to successful gardening as his always looked great! He would always go back to what he learned from his dad as a kid.

Such a nice, down to earth man—we will really miss seeing him around Calvert Marina.
    RIP John

I believe John was my late husband’s best friend. They could argue and disagree, but they never stopped being good friends. They were always ready to help one another when there was a need. I recall one Halloween night around 1995 when they, along with John Simpson and Dave Taylor, decided to go trick or treating wearing my maternity clothes. They put on some make up and not only did they go to neighbors, but they went to business establishments as well. This was in our old neighborhood in Oxon Hill near the Eastover Shopping Center. They had a great time. So many good memories that we will hold on to for years to come. May God strengthen and comfort you and your family, Angie, as you remember the good times with your beloved John.
