Jeannie Pauline Gross

Jeannie Pauline Gross, 90, of Solomons and formerly of Dunkirk and Prince Frederick, passed away January 19, 2021. She was born June 14, 1930 in Washington, DC to William and Pauline Walthall. Jeannie was raised in the DC area and later moved to Bladensburg. She married Glenn Arthur Gross in 1947 and they lived in Kentland and Kent Village before moving back to Bladensburg. In 1960, Jeannie and her family moved to the Philippines, where they lived for 1 year while Glenn was stationed at Clark Air Force Base, a year in which Jeannie thoroughly enjoyed. They later moved to Puerto Rico in 1965. In between and after her husband’s deployments, Jeannie and her family always made their way home to Prince George’s County. Later in life, Jeannie and Glenn moved to Dunkirk where they lived for over 15 years until Glenn’s passing in 1986. Shortly thereafter, Jeannie moved to Calvert Pines Senior Center in Prince Frederick, where she lived for 15 years before relocating to Solomons. Jeannie was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Hyattsville and First Lutheran Church in Huntingtown. In her spare time, she enjoyed gardening, pets, eating crabs, and participating in church group activities.

Jeannie was preceded in death by her husband Glenn Arthur Gross, a son Gary W. Gross, and a grandson Samuel R. Gross. She is survived by her children William G. Gross and his wife Alexis of Chester, Kenneth R. Gross and his wife Linda Beam of Broomes Island, and Larry M. Gross and his wife Linda of Myrtle Beach. She is also survived by 8 grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren, and 1 great-great-grandchild.
