James Wilbur “Bo” Moreland, Jr. of Lothian passed away September 16, 2021. He was born April 6, 1956 in Cheverly to James Wilbur, Sr. and Mary Ellen (Windsor) Moreland. Bo was raised on the family farm in Lothian and graduated from Southern High School in 1974. He married Donna Lynn Mathis on November 10, 1975. Bo was employed as a truck driver and worked for Chaney Enterprises, Bud Harding and Smiraldo Excavating Companies. He was a lifelong farmer, raising tobacco, corn, soybeans and vegetables. He was a member of the Anne Arundel County Farm Bureau. Bo enjoyed hunting, especially rabbit, turkey shoots, fishing, tractor pulls, drag racing, playing softball, flea markets and yard sales. Most of all, he loved talking with his family under the old maple tree. He was a kind, caring man who loved his family more than anything and would help others in time of need.
Bo is survived by his loving wife of 45 years, Donna Lynn Moreland, and children James Michael Moreland and wife Tabathe L. Canter, and Rebecca Sue “Becky” Moreland, all of Lothian, and grandchildren Caitlyn Marie Moreland, Raymond Duvall, and Madison Varchili. He is also survived by a sister Eleanor Mae Thomas and husband Dennis of Lothian, brother-in-law Joe Canter, sister-in-law Alice Canter, and brothers-in-law Tommy Curtin and Howard Norfolk, nieces and nephews Joann Thomas, Joey Canter, Chuck Canter, Alice Dorr, Frank Canter, Amanda Hudson and husband Danny, and Emily Parks, and close friends Sandy Duley, Joe Canter, Sonny Ireland, R.C., and Joseph Tippett, and numerous cousins.
Bo’s family requests that donations in his memory be made to his family to help with his funeral expenses. Checks can be made to Bo’s son Michael Moreland. Members of the Rausch Funeral Home staff will accept any donations during the visitation and service times at the funeral home, and will provide them to the family.
