James Boyd Gott, Jr. “Buddy”

September 26, 1941 – October 16, 2021

James Boyd Gott, Jr., best known as Buddy, passed away on Saturday, October 16, 2021. He was born to James B., Sr. (Jimmy) and Evelyn L. Gott on September 26, 1941. He grew up in Dares Beach and Huntingtown, MD graduating from Calvert High School. After serving as a Private in the Army Reserve National Guard in 1962, he was honorably discharged. Throughout the years he worked at Humphreys Buick, Reliable Oil Company, and Calvert Bank and Trust. His love of cars and racing never diminished.
He is preceded in death by his parents, and his brother, Warren D. Gott. He is survived by his son, Gregory B. Gott and his wife Patti of Prince Frederick, MD; daughter Carol G. LeBlanc and her husband Ted of Dowell, MD; and daughter Jackie Herath and her husband Joe of Ft. Myers, FL; one granddaughter, Mary Catherine Mahanes and her husband Kyle of Palm Coast, FL; and one great granddaughter Evie S. Mahanes.
Family and friends will be received at Rausch Funeral Home in Port Republic on Friday, October 29, 2021 from 11:00 am-1:00 pm.
A burial service will be held at Wesley Cemetery in Prince Frederick immediately following. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Warren David Gott Memorial Scholarship Fund c/o Prince Frederick Volunteer Fire Department, Co. 2, P.O. Box 976, Prince Frederick, MD 20678, or ¬¬¬¬The Parkinson Foundation of the National Capital Area.
