Where Heritage and Life are celebrated.

Gregory Leonard “Greg” Cristarella

September 10, 1950 – January 5, 2024

Gregory Leonard “Greg” Cristarella, 73, of Huntingtown passed away January 5, 2024. He was born September 10, 1950 in Washington, DC to Franklin Anthony and Carolina Myrtle (Hildreth) Cristarella. Greg was raised in SE DC and graduated from Suitland High School. He married Angela Faulkner on April 7, 1990 and they have lived in Huntingtown since 1995. Greg enjoyed a successful career as a mailer for the Washington Post, retiring in 2013 after 44 years of service. He was an avid sports fan and loved to cheer for the Washington Nationals and Washington Redskins. He also enjoyed playing golf and football in his younger years. In addition, one of his greatest past times was singing oldies with his best friends: Hunter Phillips and Charlie Taylor which were part of the “D.C. Magnatones” including Billy Vabolis, Joe Saitta and Butch Boswell. He loved having weekend “pool parties” so everyone could have a place to hang out and enjoy each other’s company…good times.

Greg is survived by his loving wife Angela Marie Cristarella, nieces Donna Madden and her husband Marty and Noelle Pierceall, nephew Dean Cristarella, great nephew Shane Madden, great niece Mia Powell and her husband Rob, sister in law Pamela Barton, including Kristin & John Benson, Steve & Tonya Faulkner including Kasey & Chase Faulkner and David Faulkner including Tabitha, Elizabeth and Gracie, Cousin Wanda Riddel & husband Jeff and Aunt Alice Ann Gardner, mother in law Judy Ann Beddingfield, and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and extended family. He was preceded in death by his son Nicholas Joseph Cristarella and brother Philip Franklin Cristarella.

A Celebration of Greg’s life will be held at a later date.

I, and your former family, will miss you. It was so sad to hear of your death. Even though it’s been years, it seems like yesterday you were in our lives. Those were good times! You were always there for the kids, Kiki, Amy, Ali and Nicky. Especially for the fun!! You’ve suffered a lot in your life, Greg. May you RIP.

My sincerest condolences to Angie and family. I want to remember Greg with all the good times we shared. He was such a prankster! I never will forget the time he called me and pretended he was an irate school parent. He truly had me going there for a while. Getting together at each other’s houses for boxing matches, and hearing outlandish tales of the boys annual weekend at OC, the pool parties and Chesapeake Beach. I think Greg found his true love when he met you Angie. He will be greatly missed.
    Sending hugs and love,

R.I.P. Greg. You were a very special person, a loving husband, a great friend to so many and the best Union Chairman we ever had in the Mailroom! I was/am so shocked and saddened by your sudden passing! Life isn’t fair when the good ones die so young and so suddenly! You were definitely one of them. You are missed by all who have known you! Thanks for everything you did for me in your position as my Union Chairman. You will be remembered forever. Your co-worker and friend. Marie

My heart broke when I heard the words and I am still in disbelief, I am comforted by the fact that I will see you again and I will be there for Angela, Lula and Pumpkin and will love them with all my heart and we will grieve together, holding Angie up in prayer and I know you are resting in peace and until we meet again know that you were the best Uncle and friend I could have ever asked for, I don’t know of a soul that ever met you that didn’t like you immediately, stubborn as a mule but helped so many and had a heart of gold, My heart aches for Angie and I know you loved her so much, prayers that she will find comfort in family and friends and all the wonderful memories you have made together over the years. Love you forever, Donna ❤️
