Emily Mae Dixon
February 8, 1927 – March 19, 2020
Emily Mae Dixon, 93, a lifelong resident of Calvert County, passed away on March 19, 2020. She was born on February 8, 1927 to Harry J. Klein and Ella Mae Grierson. She was born and raised in Chesapeake Beach, MD when it was a waterfront resort town with slot machines, hotels, boardwalk and amusement park much like it is becoming today. Emily worked at the Rod N Reel Restaurant in Chesapeake Beach, MD for over 50 years where she loved interacting with the patrons. She enjoyed shopping and traveling throughout the Chesapeake Bay Area and the Pennsylvania Amish Country with her twin sister Evelyn.
Emily was preceded in death by her husband Samuel Mason Dixon in 1967, her twin sister Evelyn Hardesty, sister Theresa Reid, and brothers Herbert Sr., Harry “Chuck”, and George Klein and grandson Kevin Hall. She is survived by her children, Linda Salazar (David) of California, MD, Olivia Deyette (Mark McLynn) of St. Leonard, MD, Sharon Rooney of Riva, MD, Marsha Long (Tom) of Benedict, MD, Samuel “Skip” Mason Dixon, Jr. (Bertha) of St. Leonard, MD and Lisa Denton of Chesapeake Beach, MD. She is also survived by grandchildren Steven Tucker, David Salazar, Shawn Tucker, Erin Denton, Brittany McAlwee, EJ Wilson, Angie Croson, Billy Jones, and Jesse Jones and 14 great-grandchildren.
Services and interment will be private. Serving as pallbearers will be Steven Tucker, David Salazar, Shawn Tucker, and EJ Wilson.
