Ella Mae Burtis
August 26, 1937 – May 2, 2020
Ella Mae Burtis, 82, of Deale, MD passed away May 2, 2020. She was born August 26, 1937 to Frederick R. and Josephine Siegert. Ella was a devout Catholic and member of St. Anthony’s Church in North Beach, MD. She loved to crochet and was a person much on the move in the interest of family and others. Ella was a friend to many, and was a most caring presence in the lives of her grandchildren. Her loving generosity, and directness of spirit, will be sorely missed.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband R.D. Burtis, and a brother Fred Siegert. She is survived by children David Burtis, Donna Newman, and Roy Jeffrey Burtis, and sisters Katherine Tucker and Connie Service, and brothers Peter and Michael Siegert.
Ella, “May the Lord keep you, bless you, and, and make his countenance shine upon you.”

My heart is full of sadness and my prayers go out to her family during this difficult time. I met Ella years ago when she came into my office at the Matt Boudreau Agency Nationwide Insurance and we became friends, she would always brighten up my day. I will always cherish the wonderful talks we had , but most of all, I remember what a wonderful, loving woman she was and she will always have a special place in my heart.
So very to sorry to hear of her passing. We had a lot of memories and especially her trying to teach me how to crochet. And trying to teach our son Little Joe to play the guitar. You will be missed so much. Jean and Joe Caldwell
Oh how I will miss your sense of humor and your friendship. I’ve known Ella for many years. She helped so many students at the College of Southern Maryland as a Math tutor. They would arrive confused about algebra or trigonometry and Ella would help them understand the problems – and pass their math classes! She did all of this with a friendly, warm smile. We will meet again someday my friend. Heartfelt condolences to the family. Denise Cherry

My Dear Friend I miss you so. We had so many good times and I will always cherish them. Then end of your earthly journey came way too soon but we know you now are in Gods hands and have found peace and rest.
Luv Ya,
Gini
