Eleanor Mae Thomas

Eleanor Mae Thomas, 71, a lifelong resident of Lothian, passed away October 17, 2021. Eleanor Mae was born August 30, 1950 in Cheverly, MD to James Wilbur Moreland and Mary Ellen (Windsor) Moreland. She was raised on the family farm in Lothian. She graduated from Southern High School in 1968. From a young age to an adult, she worked on the family farm raising crops and tobacco. On February 9, 1974, she married the love of her life, Dennis James Thomas at St. Thomas Church in Croom, MD. Both she and Dennis were married for 47 years!
Eleanor Mae loved spending time with her family, she loved just taking a ride to go to yard sales, estate sales, and to play slots and bingo. She loved crabbing with her husband Dennis and her family. She loved watching her brother “Bo” play softball, but most important, she loved Alan Jackson, and playing her country music all throughout the house.
Eleanor Mae was preceded in death by her beloved parents, James Wilbur and Mary Ellen Moreland, her brother James W. Moreland, Jr. and her niece and God daughter, Rebecca Sue “Becky” Moreland. She is survived by her beloved husband, Dennis J. Thomas of Lothian, and daughter Joann Thomas of Lothian. Also surviving are granddaughters Amanda Hudson (Daniel) of Crownsville and Emily Parks of Lothian, sister-in-law Donna Moreland and nephew and God son, James Michael “Mike” Moreland, both of Lothian and great-nieces Madison Varlichi and Caitlyn Moreland.
Eleanor Mae was known to have a heart of gold, she was caring, loving and thoughtful and will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
