David “Buckshot” Wilson Barrett, 67, of St. Leonard, Maryland passed away peacefully at home on April 4th, 2023, surrounded by his loving family. David fought a brief but courageous battle of esophageal cancer.
David was born to David Armstrong Barrett and Elizabeth (Luber) Barnes-Barrett on February 15th, 1956. David is survived by his wife, Margie (Sharretts) Barrett, his children, David “Bubba” and Erica (fiancé Paul Reamy), his granddaughters, Laycyn Barrett and Layla Gibson, and great granddaughter, Caaliyah Jaide. He is also survived by his sisters, Gloria Barnes Yates, Carolyn Barnes Parker and Linda Barnes Lanzisera. David is also survived by a host of loving nieces, nephews, and extended family. He was preceded in death by his parents David and Elizabeth, his brothers, William (Billy) Barnes, Douglas (Dougie) Barnes, Solomons (Perry) Barnes, Timothy (Timmy) Barnes, and sister Sandra (Barnes) Button.
David was born and raised on the water in Broomes Island, Maryland. From a young age David’s father instilled a love of the water in him. David was an avid fisherman, and he was often seen on the Patuxent River catching crabs for family gatherings. Another favorite thing of David’s was cooking for everyone. A great meal was always guaranteed when you visited the Barrett’s house.
David spent most of his career rising through the building industry. He began at a very young age under the teaching of someone he considered like a dad to him, Douglas Wood. In his neighborhood David was known for his ability to help problem solve. Whether it be a house repair, snow plowing, yard maintenance, or advice David was called upon. David’s true love was his family. He was married to his high school sweetheart for 49 years. No greater joy was brought to him than to help his children in any way he could. His granddaughters and great granddaughter gave him so much happiness and joy.

Our deepest and heartfelt sympathies go to you, Margie and the family. Dave was such a good friend and over the years. He was the kind of person that just touched every soul he came in contact with, by showing his kindness and love, for not only for his family but also his friends. Dave was fabulous at bringing laughter to all who knew him. He just always had a heart of gold and was always ready to share whatever he had with others. Now, the time has come for Dave to join the many angels, God has called upon to help others. May he rest in peace. We pray your wonderful memories with your husband will make your heart strong to carry on.
