Darla June Briggs, 59, passed away in her home in Stokesdale, North Carolina on April 9, 2020, surrounded by her immediate family. She was born at Washington Hospital Center in Washington, D.C. on June 6, 1960. She was the daughter of the late Eldred William Nicholson, Sr. and Catherine Delores (Pruitt) Nicholson. She was raised in Cottage City, Maryland and graduated from Bladensburg High School in 1978. She married Michael Lee Briggs, Sr. in Edmonston, Maryland on July 26, 1980. They raised their children, Michael Lee Briggs, Jr. and Carina Lynn McDaniel, in Prince Frederick, Maryland and later relocated to their new home in Stokesdale, North Carolina in June of 2018. She is survived by her husband of 40 years, two children, and five siblings: Eldred William Nicholson, Jr., Karen Sue Paddy, Kevin Lee Nicholson, Jr., Kathy Denise Newcomer, and Darrell Jay Nicholson. She loved her family and friends dearly and was very much looking forward to becoming a grandmother in September. She was very outgoing and social and made new friends everywhere she went. She was partial to the color pink, cats (especially her 17-year-old cat Kitty), and tea parties.
Funeral arrangements will remain private but floral arrangements can be sent to Southern Memorial Gardens (10155 Ward Road Dunkirk, MD 20754) on Tuesday, April 14.

Oh my! Just learning of this so late! They say Words can not express! Such a Valiant and strong person and such an endless soul. As in Life she will go on to be a Watchful eye and Heart over so many. I will never ever forget! Her and Mike carried me when I could not carry myself! I went on! But never ever forgot… She Holds a place in my heart and touched my life and you can’t take that away. To Mike she wants you to be Happy like you were when she was here. God Bless you both I will never forget! There are Truley Angels on earth you both represent that! Mike Moore 2020
