Dana Marie Watkinson
October 28, 1973 – August 19, 2021

Dana Marie Watkinson passed away unexpectedly on August 19, 2021, at age 47, leaving behind 3 children, Sylvie, Bruno and Aniken, who were the center of her universe. She was preceded in death by their father and her partner of 16 years, Loren Leroy. She is also survived by her father Jim Watkinson and stepmother Linda Miller; her mother Elizabeth Day and sisters Robin Day and Carol Tarrant; her in laws Wayne and Bonnie Leroy, and brother-in-law Lannie Leroy and his wife Stefanie, and numerous nieces and nephews. Dana had an adventurous spirit, at a young age trekking out west and living on her own. But she made friends easily and gave generously to her neighbors in need. When she returned home, she met her life’s partner and started a family in Breezy Point where she had spent her teen years. She worked in various human services jobs to help people – homeless, abused women, seniors, and impoverished – have a better quality of life, and was passionate about environmental causes. In 2016 she earned a Bachelor of Science in Geographical Sciences from University of Maryland, and was recently working on her Masters, with plans for a career in GIS. After her husband passed, she wanted more than anything to be able to support her family so they could remain in their beloved bayside community.
Contributions can be made to a Go Fund Me page in her honor, https://gofund.me/15a40609, which will ensure her teenage children can remain in the home while they complete high school and college.

I have so many wonderful memories with Dana and the family. She was the first person to greet us when we moved into the neighborhood. She is loved and will be missed. Condolences to her children, her family and to everyone whose lives she touched.
Dana, I loved you the first time I met you. Your beautiful smile was contagious and your heart was so full of love. I cherished the time that you lived with us, my girls had a big sister and I had a bonus daughter. I was so happy when you found Loren Leroy and had his children, he and they completed you. May God in all His glory watch over your children and keep them safe. I will always love the memories we made. Rest in peace sweet Dana and soar high with the Angels. We love you.
For many of us, Dana was at, or near the center of our universe, but never at the center of her own. Quite literally, if not thee, then at the very least, one of the kindest, sweetest, and loveliest human beings I’ve ever had the pleasure and privilege to share this plane with. We will always love you, and forever cherish the many wonderful memories. Thanks for being part of this with us.
