Charles Wesley Skinner, better know as “Bud”, 68 of Port Republic, Maryland passed away on Saturday, May 23, 2020 at his home after battling cancer. Bud was born on October 25, 1951 in Mutual, which is now Port Republic. He grew up working on the family farm, where tobacco was the cash crop along with corn, hay and a large vegetable garden. He took care of the livestock which included horses, cattle, pigs and chickens. Bud last worked for Calvert County at Parks and Recreation in Hallowing Point as a groundskeeper. He attended Calvert County Schools and graduated from Calvert Senior High in June of 1971. Bud was a life-long member of Christ Episcopal Church and had helped hang rings at the annual jousting tournament in previous years. He loved to hunt and enjoyed quiet walks through the woods. He loved his nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephew. Bud always had a joke to tell and liked to tell us about movies and shows he had watched on the television. He had sharp eyes like an Eagle and could always find any lost object. Bud loved to whistle and could imitate any bird call.

He was predeceased by his parents, Betty Sweet Skinner and Charles William Skinner. His survivors include: Sue Skinner, Peggy Skinner Cochran (Art), Bill Skinner (Dawn) and Janie Skinner Joy (Jeff). Nieces, nephew, great-nieces and nephew and cousins throughout the states.

Graveside service will be held on Tuesday, May 26th at Christ Episcopal Church, 3100 Broomes Island Road, Port Republic, MD, 20676. Father Christopher Garcia will be the officiating minister. Active pallbearers are Arthur Cochran, William Jenifer, Philip Johnson, Jeff Joy, Sr., Dennis Pardoe and Bill Skinner.

The family wishes to thank Dr. Joseph Barth and Dr. Y. Renee Bright. Memorial contributions may be made to Christ Episcopal Church or Calvert Hospice at https://calverthospice.org/donate. Arrangements provided by Rausch Funeral Home, Port Republic

You were and always will be “My Bubbie”. My Adopted brother. I will miss you greatly. Every year when I see the daffodils bloom I will think of you with much love and cut me some because I know if you were still here with me you would bring them to me yourself. Love Dawn

Sorry to learn of Bud’s passing. I remember Bud and some of his siblings as the first friends my brother, sister and me had on our daily bus rides to and from school back in the 1960’s. Bud was a nice guy and always friendly although quiet. May the family find peace at this time. God Bless! R.I.P. Bud…
