Where Heritage and Life are celebrated.

Ann Carol Parker Parks

May 30, 1932- February 27, 2021

Ann Carol Parker Parks (88 and great) of North Beach transitioned from Mother Earth Saturday, February 27, 2021 at her home with family, fulfilling her last wish. Ann was born and raised in the Washington, DC area, the daughter of Norman Douglas Parker, Jr. and Ruth Brashears. She attended Montgomery Blair High School, Sidwell Friends and Mt. Holyoke College. She received her BS of Science in Nursing at Johns Hopkins in 1955 and in 1957 she met her husband Richard Alcott Parks at a jazz club in Baltimore. After a cross-country honeymoon trip to California, time in Amherst, MA, when Dick started his engineering degree at the University of Massachusetts, they settled in Montgomery County, MD. She worked at NIH in the fifties before stating a family. After a divorce in 1965 she found help and employment with Parents Without Partners, working part-time as a membership secretary for the local chapter before joining the PWP international office in Bethesda. She did meeting planning for PWP and then retired from American Speech and Hearing Association a meeting planner in 1998. Later in life, she earned a Master of Arts degree in Counseling Psychology from Bowie State University in 1979 when her children were teenagers and needed a little guidance in their life. She retired to the Bay Cottage where she spent 24 wonderful years surrounded by the waterfront beauty of nature and the warm company of family and friends in the Holland Point community. She leaves behind her ex-husband Richard (Lois), a brother Norman Douglas Parker III (Gabriele), son Glenn Shaw Parks (Dorian Janney), a daughter Constance Ann Parks (Brian Rose), a son Thomas Howard Parks (Elaine) and three grandchildren, Nicholas, Heather, and Rachel Parks. A celebration of her life is being planned for Memorial Day, her birthday, and details will follow. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, contributions in her name be made to the Chesapeake Bay Foundation or another cause you hold dear.

Thanks, La. There are many great memories to share! Like what was going through her mind as she took passport photo before trip to Greece to study psychology at the source of the science. And how she juggled Adlerian psych while dating psychiatrist a follower of Freud.
Thanks for the condolences. Love, Con

I know for certain that we never loose the people we love, even to death. They continue to participate in every thought, act and decision we make. Their love leaves an indelible imprint in our memories….Leo Buscadia
