Gene was more like a brother than just a friend. Mindy and I enjoyed our time living with him in Rockville together. Our laughs and close relationship was a wonderful time in my life. Many prayers to Bonnie and Steve. I am sure your Gene’s are celebrating/rejoicing their reunion. Love and prayers. Jenny Diserio
I am so very sorry to read about Gene. He was such a part of my college years. When I think about those times, Gene is a part of them. What a kind, funny, caring, and good soul he was.
Please accept my deepest sympathies for your loss. The world lost a genuinely good person. You are all in my thoughts and prayers.
I was just notified of ‘Geno’s” passing by a fellow Fraternity brother. Shocked and saddened to hear!
Gene and I were Lambda Chi Alpha fraternity brothers at West Liberty State College and we enjoyed a wonderful relationship during those years. He was such a fine individual and full of life. Unfortunately, we hadn’t kept in touch over the years and I’m even more disheartened in that I have family in Calvert County (Dunkirk) and had I known of his location, I certainly would have reached out. My deepest sympathy and condolences!

Please accept our condolences. Gene was a great mentor and friend.
When we were going through a very rough time in our lives, my father’s
passing and when my son was hospitalized he didn’t hesitate to tell
me your family comes first. He will be missed.
I’ve known Gene since he was hired to work in Navy Contracts during the 1980’s. He was part of the best group of people I ever supervised during my career. He was smart and conscientious, while at the same time fun and the ultimate team player. He so impressed management that he rose to the position of Director of Contracts for the entire organization. He was a caring friend who will be greatly missed.
Dear Bonnie and Steven,
I’m so very sorry for your loss. I’ll be praying for all of you, especially Gene’s boys, who must be devastated. I’ll always be grateful for the many years I was part of your family. (I can imagine the wild game of thumper going on in heaven.) God bless.
Meg (Armina)
To Gene’s Mom, brother, sons, relatives and too many friends to count, I extend my deepest sympathy. Those of us at Gene’s workplace were fortunate to work with him all these years. Gene could find humor in just about any situation, and there was much laughter whenever he was near. He was dedicated to the mission and genuinely cared about his team and entire work force. I envision him in a heavenly golf course setting, finally relaxing in comfort and peace while blessing those he loves so much back here. He will always be missed, and we take comfort knowing we were made better by his time with us.
Peter and I are so sorry to hear the news of Gene’s passing. We were next door neighbors when he lived in Laurel with his family and he was the type of neighbor that you could bang on the door or holler across the lawn and he would come to assist with anything you needed help with. You could count on his help – he even helped us move into a rented house when we first moved to Calvert County as well! And his lawn next door in Laurel was immaculate – I was always yelling at my husband “Why can’t you do the lawn like Gene does!” or “Why can’t you keep the garage organized like Gene does!”
He was a great father – always playing with his sons Ben and Sam at the time in the backyard or neighborhood and welcoming our kids to play along as well.. I remember the kids pushing a toy lawn mower around after Gene, joining in the Easter neighborhood hunts and attending birthday parties. We had a pinata for my eldest son’s birthday one year and my daughter was having difficult swinging at the pinata, so Gene picked her up and was helping her swing the bat at it. He did things like that – just pitched in and helped. Our thoughts and prayers go out to all those who loved and cared for him. We are so saddened to hear of his passing.

Our heart felt condolences and prayers of comfort go out to Gene’s family. He was the type of person who never meets a stranger and he would always make you feel special. He had a way of making you feel that you were the most important person in the world and his warm smile and quick laughter could make your day. It was our pleasure and honor working with Gene, and that’s how he made you feel. Pat, Tasha and I have worked with Gene and his charming smile and friendly attitude were his calling card. He could always make you smile at things that others may present as a big challenge. We are sadden to hear of Gene’s passing, and much love and comfort to his family. Rest well my friend.
Our family was deeply saddened by the news of Gene’s passing. Both of our sons grew up with Ben and Sam and have fond memories of spending time with the Camilletti family over the years. Please know we are holding your family in our thoughts and prayers.
The Bigley Family was deeply saddened by the news of Gene’s passing. Gene had the best personality and was an incredible team player. He was the supervisor of Dennis and John both and both said he was a fantastic and fun Boss. I will miss you too, very much. Watch over your boys and all your friends. We love you Gene.
If you knew Gene -you loved him-he truly was a one of the kindest, funniest hardest working guys I have ever worked with- there wasn’t a day that went by that he couldn’t make you smile-he loved his boys and his family and brought those enduring qualities To the work place. Bo and Theresa Carey
I was very fortunate to have known & worked with Gene and very grateful for his many years of service and dedication to our Navy and our Nation. He was a truly kind individual and will be greatly missed. He and the family are in my thoughts & prayers. On behalf of the Department of Navy, deepest condolences.
I, like so many of Gene’s friends and coworkers was sad to hear of his passing. I met Gene the day I arrived at the organization. Since that time he was not only my coworker but also a mentor and my friend as he went on to become my CCO and Director of Contracts. He always made time for me when I needed it and I needed a lot of time. He had a million dollar smile especially when he talked about his three sons. You only needed to know him a short time to know that he truly loved his sons and didn’t mind sharing funny stories about them. I will miss the jokester he was, and how he could make you feel at ease. To Ben, Sam and Jake, your dad’s love, laughter and the special memories made are life’s lessons that will always be with you. Those things are his gift to you. Please accept my sincere sympathy on the passing of your dad, and my friend. May his soul rest with the angels in heavenly peace.
With my deepest sympathy,
Mary K. Butler
Gene was such a fun-loving, easy going person with the biggest heart, as well as a great jokester! Working with him was a hoot! He always came into the office smiling and would crack us up with his stories and jokes. I thoroughly enjoyed working with him. He was definitely a one of a kind and will truly be missed. Rest easy, my friend.
I am so saddened by the loss of Gene. He was always a pleasure to work with. I was lucky enough to witness just how much he cared for his team and the others around him. He never hesitated to share a smile, laugh or words of encouragement.
Gene, Thank you for everything. It’s been fun! I will miss you.
My deepest condolences to Gene’s family and loved ones. Gene was a hard worker, a shrewd negotiator and a dear friend. During periods of tension, the twinkles in his eyes were warnings that some welcome stress-relieving mischief was afoot. Farewell my friend.
