Mark William McCormick
August 25, 1962 – February 12, 2023
Mark was born in Washington, DC to Perry William and Marjorie Ellen (Fels) McCormick. They lived, along with his siblings, in Oxon Hill, MD where he was active in the Oxon Hill Boys & Girls Club and graduated from Oxon Hill High School in 1980. He was a member of Oxon Hill United Methodist Church and later Trinity United Methodist.
He earned his Associate in Arts degree in Drafting Technology from Prince George’s Community College in 1985 before attending Old Dominion University and later St. Mary’s College of MD where he studied music.
Mark’s love of music was vast, from Pink Floyd to Metallica, classical to alternative rock. He was proficient in trumpet, baritone, guitar, and keyboard and collected many instruments over the years.
The majority of his career was with Siemens Industry, Inc. where he held many positions: Solutions Technician, Branch Procurement Manager, Service Technician Senior, and most recently Client Service Manager.
He served his community as part of the Board of Directors of Oxon Hill Recreation Club (OHRC), Whispering Woods HOA, and the Calvert Soccer Association.
Mark and Lisa met at OHRC as members of the swim team and as lifeguards. They began dating in July 1987, got engaged on the beach in Ocean City, MD in Dec. 1989, and married in June 1991. They lived in Oxon Hill, MD initially and moved to Prince Frederick, MD in 2003.
Their children Marisa and Matthew were his greatest pride and joy. He is also survived by his sisters Cheryl and Mary McCormick, along with nieces Kate Weller (Jason) and Liz Andrews, nephews Graham Andrews, Perry, Kyle and Aaron McCormick, and great-nephew Wyatt Weller. He is predeceased by his parents and his brother George McCormick.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in memory of Mark William McCormick may be made to the American Heart Association or his son Matthew’s college fund.

Lisa, Marisa, Matthew, and the rest of the McCormick family I am truly sorry for your loss. During a time like this I know no words I can say will help. I was lucky to have worked Mark as part of the CSA family. Mark like many of the volunteers for CSA wanted give his time and effort to provide a better place for children of Calvert County. It was an honor and pleasure to work with him. When I was ready to retire from being President of CSA I needed someone to take my place and lucky for me Mark was there. I wanted to find the right person that I trusted would take care of CSA and Mark stepped up. This has been a shock hearing of Mark’s passing and I send you my sincere condolences.
We are so very sorry for the loss of Mark! We have such fond memories of him coaching Danielle and Marissa. We cannot begin to imagine your pain and hope God will comfort you as time goes on. Praying for y’all!!!!
Mark and my brother Tom were good friends growing up. To me Mark was another little brother. He was great guy, always funny, with a great personality, and very active. I have fond memories of our younger years.
I was so sadden to hear of his passing. I know everyone that knew him will be lessen by his departure. He will be missed, but we all were better off with him in our live.
My condolences for you and your family.
We are so heartbroken to hear of Mark’s passing, especially for Lisa, Mathew and Marisa. He was a passionate dad on the sidelines and gave back so much to the local soccer community. But he loved to talk about his family most. They were his world. Our hearts are with you.
I knew Mark as a colleague at Siemens and enjoyed his insight and mentoring, but also his many stories of his volunteer work, ravings on his kid’s talents, community vegetable swapping, etc. Definitely a man of actions for the greater good, not just words. He surely has been received into Heaven with open arms. Sincere condolences Lisa and family.
I am deeply saddened by the passing of Mark. He was a great mentor to me and many others within the soccer community. He had such a passion and drive to help build a great program for everyone to benefit from. I always enjoyed our long conversations and banter. He was one of a kind! He will be greatly missed.
We are heartbroken to hear of Mark’s passing. Sending lots of love and prayers from the Lenck/Galbreath/Canniff family.
We all remember Mark as a wonderful part of the Oxon Hill family. His light will continue to shine in his beautiful children.
Lisa, Mary and Cheryl – we are thinking of you.
