William Franklin Prochownik III
March 4, 1982 – January 25, 2023
William Franklin Prochownik III (Bill), 40, died suddenly from aortic aneurysm January 25, 2023. He is survived by his parents Jeanne & William Prochownik of Huntingtown Md, sister Christina Prochownik of Charleston, SC, Aunt Joann & late Ricci Southerly, and aunt Kathy & Mike Rosier of Baltimore MD , and a host of cousins. Bill was predeceased by his beloved lab Sandy and uncle Raymond Prochownik. He was born March 4, 1982 in Baltimore MD but called Calvert County his home for 34 years. He graduated from Calvert High School in 2000 and was taking courses towards a paleontology degree at University of Maryland. As young children, Jeanne took Bill and his sister shark tooth hunting on the Chesapeake Bay. This nurtured his lifelong passion for paleontology, which he shared with everyone he met. He spent countless hours fossil hunting with his best friend Tee Smith and members from the fossil community from all over the country. Bill took pride in volunteering with Calvert Marine Museum, forging friendships that felt like family. Should friends desire, contributions may be made in memory of Bill to Calvert Marine Museum through a special link on their website http://www.calvertmarinemuseum.com
Following the Mass on Tuesday at Jesus the Divine Word, all are invited to a reception in the Church Hall.

So sorry for your loss. Unfortunately I will be out of town due to my fathers health and will not be able to attend. My thoughts and prayers are with you and the family during this time of great sorrow. May the Lord hold you in the palm of his hand and comfort you and your family. God bless. Diana Stoaks
Bill was one of the first people we met eight years ago when we moved to Calvert, and my son worked with him at Bowen’s. Words can’t express how much we all enjoyed our visits with “Mr. Bill.” We will be praying for his family and all the many folks who counted him as a friend.—Bill, Stephanie, and Zachary Reck
I remember Bill as Billy and he is still Billy to me. When Jeanne and family made Calvert County their home, I had the pleasure of greeting Christina and Billy into school at Huntingtown Elementary. They were two amazing awesome kids that had a love for learning. I believe Billy was coming into 1st grade and both he and Christina settled in like they had always been there. I lost track of them when they graduated out of Elementary School but reconnected when Billy started working at Gordon Bowen’s Store. I loved talking to Billy as he would tell me how he was doing and what future plans he was working towards. My Sincere Condolences to the family for the loss of such a wonderful loving son/brother. My heart is breaking for you all.

Our family is so sad to hear of the passing of William “Bill” I remember him at Huntingtown Elementary and of course remember how nice he was working at the deli/butcher shop at Bowen’s Grocery. He was always polite and kind. He will be sadly missed by family and friends. Our prayers are with you and your family.

I only got to fossil hunt with Bill once but I had been looking forward to more trips with him. He modestly oozed with paleo knowledge. It was refreshing to spend time with someone so genuine. My heart aches for those who loved him.
I was shocked to hear of Bill’s passing. God had bigger plans for him. He gave so much of himself to others with his friendship and knowledge. I know my daughter Alaina enjoyed shark tooth hunting with him very much. He will always hold a place in our hearts. My sincere condolences to his parents, sister, and his dear friend Tee. 🙏
My deepest sympathy in the passing of your son. I met Billy years ago at Huntingtown VFD and also when he worked at Bowen’s. He was always kind and polite. Please know that he is now in God’s loving care and hope that this brings you some comfort in this difficult time.
Bill was such a kind and thoughtful person. I feel so honored to have gotten to know him, and I will dearly miss him. I will cherish the memories I have of fossil collecting with Bill, and his great sense of humor and the kindness he extend to extended to everyone. He was truly a person that had a smile that brightened up a room. I extend my deepest condolences to his family and friends. I’m so very sorry for your loss.

Bill was such a passionate volunteer paleontologist for our Department at the Calvert Marine Museum. We have lost a dear friend and gentle kindred spirit.
My heart hurts. I have known Billy since he was a young boy. We will miss him and pray God will surround Jean and Christina, and all their family and friends with loving peace.
Prayers from our family to yours.

We don’t expect to outlive our children. But only God “knows the day and time” of life and death. Am praying for you and your family.
My sympathies go out to you and your family. While we don’t expect to outlive our children, precious memories of their lives sprinkle upon us like flower petals.
Praying for you all.
