Warren Francis Sengstack

Warren F. Sengstack, 84, of Asbury-Solomons died peacefully at home on September 10, 2026, shortly after being diagnosed with cancer.  He was born on April 5, 1942, in Washington DC to Eleanor and Warren George Sengstack. 

All boy, Warren spent his youth playing basketball and baseball. He attended Anacostia High School, where he was a proud member of their Cadet Corps. Upon graduation from high school, he enrolled at the University of Maryland, College Park, where he pledged Sigma Phi Epsilon fraternity. It was at UMD,  during the second semester of his freshman year, that he met the love of his life, Patricia (Pat) Switzer. For the next 3 ½ years, they were inseparable and married just one week after graduation on June 13, 1964. 

Warren attended the Washington School of Law at American University, graduating in 1967.  He and Pat moved to Calvert County soon after, where Warren set up his law practice. In the early years, he practiced mainly real estate law, but in 1970, Judge Perry Bowen asked Warren to serve as State’s Attorney for Calvert County, a position he relished and served faithfully for a total of 20 years.  While he and Pat raised their children, Warren was involved with various boards including the Calverton School. The family spent summers in Scientists Cliffs, where Warren enjoyed playing tennis. 

Unfortunately, Pat developed breast cancer in 1996.  Warren remained her caregiver until her death in 2001.  

In 2004, Warren was introduced to a widow, Maureen Lawson.  Eighteen months later they were married on September 10, 2005. The next 21 years were a whirlwind of travel with friends and playing bridge, with an occasional game of hand and foot thrown into the mix. 

In 2023, Warren and Maureen moved to the Asbury-Solomons Retirement Community where they settled into a small cottage just a stone’s throw from the Patuxent River. Here, they made numerous new friends, especially over the bridge table. In addition, Warren was especially fond of walking the path around the Asbury campus meeting other early risers along the way. 

Warren is preceded in death by his parents and beloved first wife, Pat. Warren leaves behind his cherished wife, Maureen, his daughter Wendy Sengstack Laurento (John), his son Michael Sengstack (Edwin), his +2 daughters Kim Lawson and Amy Lawson Moore (Jeff), and his beloved sisters, Bobbi Sengstack of Elizabethtown, PA, and Peg Denny (Jim Walters) of Charlotte, North Carolina.
