Walter Leo Jackson, Jr., 76, of Huntingtown, born December 5, 1949 in Baltimore City passed away October 22, 2026, after a brief battle of cancer. He will be lovingly remembered by his family and friends. Walt grew up in Baltimore City and graduated from Mt. Saint Joseph Catholic High School in 1967. He later decided to continue his education and proudly graduated from The University of Maryland College Park in 1996. Walt proudly served his country in the United States Army. He retired as a sheet metal mechanic from the Coast Guard in Curtis Bay, MD. Retirement did not keep him idle, and he later worked for Calvert County Parks and Recreation, where he also retired. Walt was a 4th degree of Knight of the Knights of Columbus, Calvert Council 7870 and volunteered for many events with them that brought them much joy. Walt was an avid gardener who spent many hours tending to his plants. He also enjoyed crabbing from his pier and taking out his little dinghy boat. He always had a tool in his hand or a project underway. Never one to simply rest, Walt was always finding something to do.

Walter is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 55 years, Sharon Jackson; his daughters Kim Ward (Joey) and Chrissy King (Christian); and his grandchildren Joel Ward, Jr., and Phillip King, Jr. He is also survived by his mother, Rose Jackson. Walter was preceded in death by his loving grandfather, Joseph Raysinger, and his aunt Ella Raysinger.

Walter will be lovingly remembered by his family and friends, who will carry his memory in their hearts. The family sincerely appreciates the thoughts, prayers, and support extended to them during this difficult time.

New Condolence

Dave Wilson

October 25 – Obituary: Walter Leo Jackson, Jr.

Our condolences Sharon, Chrissy, Kim and family.   Walt was a great guy.  Yes he was always ‘busy’, quite a handyman.  He was a big part in renovating/upgrading St. Anthony’s kitchen.  Walt was our ‘devil’s advocate’ at our Council Meetings.  Sharon and Walt were integral with many Council activities through the years. Most of all he was a Friend to many.  Blessings for All🙏    Dave, Sr.
