Thomas John Eversfield, Sr.
September 16, 1957 – April 8, 2024
Thomas “Tommy” John Eversfield Sr., of Dunkirk, MD passed away on April 8, 2024 with his son and daughter by his side. Born September 16, 1957 in Cheverly, Maryland he was the son of the late William Octavius Eversfield and Edith Mary Eversfield. He was a graduate of Parkdale Senior High School class of 1975.
His life was a testament to hard work, dedication and a deep love for his family and friends. Tommy poured his heart and soul into being the owner of a saw mill, a skilled logger, dedicated farmer and father. Often giving gardening advice, he enjoyed showing off his green thumb to anyone that would listen. Tommy provided many a bountiful harvest of Parks Whopper tomatoes, Argent corn, Crimson Sweet watermelons, and so much more to everyone who stopped by the farm. Being an avid baseball fan, some of his most treasured memories are of sitting upstairs in his childhood home listening to the senators lose with his brother Bill. Growing up during what many refer to as the peak period of rock and roll, Tommy always had amazing stories about the concerts his cousin Hooley was able to get him into. His only regret was not being old enough t0 see Jimi Hendrix live. Baseball and Rock legends knowledge rolled off of his tongue with a thick draw and encyclopedic accuracy.
Tommy’s lifelong passion for super late models and 410 sprint car racing was infectious and many family and friends had tagged along for the funny stories and rowdy racing. He never hit the 50/50 but he would always stick around to be sure, then watch the 358 spirits unless they wrecked as soon as the race started, then he was out of there. Ultimately, Tommy’s greatest pleasure was found in the company of his family and friends, gathered at the shop sharing stories and laughter while working on projects together.
Tommy is survived by his wife Annette Eversfield, daughter Linda Eversfied Wells (Brad) of Tracy’s Landing, son Thomas Eversfield, Jr. (Linda Callahan) of Fairhaven, stepchildren Megan Reyes (Misael) of Dunkirk and Elias Venable of Virginia, grandchildren Evan Wells, Oliver Wells, Jack Eversfield, Addie Armstrong, Miranda Reyes, and Malakai Reyes, brother William C. “Bill” Eversfield (Janice) of Friendship, nieces Ashley and Courtney Eversfield and nephew Andrew Eversfield.
Thomas John Eversfield Sr. leaves behind a lifetime of cherished memories that will forever be held close to those who were fortunate enough to have known and loved him
Family and friends are invited to pay their respects on Sunday, April 14, 2024 from 12:00 pm until 1:30 pm with a 1:30pm service at Rausch Funeral Home, 8325 Mt. Harmony Lane, Owings, Maryland.
