Alma Teresa Denton, 76, of Barstow, MD, passed away peacefully on September
22, 2023 at Complete Care Nursing Home in LaPlata, MD. Born on June 30, 1947 in
Prince Frederick, MD to previously deceased Alma Turner Bowen of Sunderland, MD and Guy Lawrence Bowen, of Port Republic, MD. She spent her entire career working for the Maryland Department of Juvenile Services, D C Government and Calvert County governments. While not at work, she enjoyed attending church and spending time with her family, especially the large get-togethers over the summer. During the summers, you could always find her outside working in her flower beds or soaking in the sun.
Teresa is survived by her loving husband Gill “Bunky” Denton, her daughter, Donna Harris and her husband, Tom, of Chesapeake Beach, MD, son David Denton and his wife, Angela of Lusby, MD and three loving grandchildren, Allison, Addison and Dominic. She is also survived by sisters Anne Weems, Sharon Godfrey and her husband, John, both of Port Republic, MD as well as her brother, William “Larry” Bowen and his wife, Judy, of Denver, NC, and brother-in-law, Wayne Carroll, of Lusby, MD along with many nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by her sisters, Dorothy F. Bowen, of Prince Frederick, MD, James and Sylvia Wood of Prince Frederick, MD. Cathy Carroll of Lusby, MD and Francis Weems from Port Republic, MD
The family will receive friends on Monday, September 25th for viewings from 2 pm – 4pm and 6 pm – 8 pm at Rausch Funeral Home in Port Republic, MD. The funeral will take place on Tuesday, September 26 th at 11am at Trinity United Methodist Church in Prince Frederick, MD. Interment following at Central Cemetery in Prince Frederick, MD.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alma T. Bowen Memorial Scholarship Fund at Trinity UM Church.
