Stacy Matthew Sturdivant

Stacy Matthew Sturdivant, 58, passed away on August 31, 2026. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, son, and friend who will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.

Stacy was a humble, hardworking, and dedicated man with a heart for helping others. He had a wonderful sense of humor and was always willing to lend a hand to anyone who needed it. Whether it was fixing a car, solving a problem, or simply being there for someone, Stacy could always be counted on.

His greatest passion, aside from his family, was his love of rebuilding cars and trucks — especially hotrods. That passion began at a very young age. By the time he was just 13 years old, Stacy was already changing spark plugs and learning the trade that would become his lifelong career.

He began his professional journey working on cars at Fred Menke’s, then continued on to work at Phipps Buick, where he continued to develop his skills and passion for the automotive industry. He later went on to work at Capitol Cadillac, where he spent 30 years. During those years, Stacy also worked from his home garage, taking on projects and helping family, friends, and anyone else who needed his expertise.

After years of hard work and dedication, Stacy turned his passion into his own business and opened Owings Automotive nearly 11 years ago. What started as a love for working on cars became a business built on his knowledge, dedication, honesty, and willingness to help others. For Stacy, being a mechanic was more than a job, it was something he truly loved.

Above all else, Stacy was incredibly proud of his family. His family was his greatest accomplishment and his greatest joy. He treasured the time he spent with them and created memories that will be cherished forever.

Stacy is survived by his beloved mother, Hazel Yokum; his devoted wife, Stacie Sturdivant; his son, James Sturdivant and his wife Jourdan Sturdivant; his son Matthew Sturdivant; and his two grandchildren, Axel Sturdivant and Edyn Sturdivant.

Stacy leaves behind more than the cars he repaired or the business he built. He leaves behind a lifetime of memories, a family who loved him deeply, and countless people whose lives he touched through his kindness, humor, generosity, and willingness to help.

His hands may no longer be turning wrenches, but the legacy he built—and the love he gave—will continue through his family and all those who knew him.

Rest easy, Stacy. You will be loved, remembered, and missed always.
