Shirley Mae Gibson

Shirley Mae Gibson, 91, a lifelong resident of Huntingtown passed away July 26, 2021 at Yellow Bank Assisted Living in Dunkirk. She was born November 13, 1929 in Huntingtown to Walter Ralph and Beulah Louise (Trott) Cranford. Shirley was raised on the family farm in Huntingtown and she graduated from Calvert High School. She married Raymond Gibson on October 5, 1946. Shirley was employed as a receptionist in a dental office for many years before going to work for Direct Mail Lithographers in Prince Frederick. She was a longtime member of Huntingtown United Methodist Church, where she sang in the choir and helped with church dinners. Shirley was an extremely hard worker who enjoyed working on the farm and around the house, singing, and being involved in church activities.
Shirley was preceded in death by her husband James Raymond Gibson and brother Johnny Cranford. She is survived by her sons Dennis Gibson and wife Peggy of Vicksburg, MS, Jack Gibson of Huntingtown, and Roy Gibson and wife Debbie of Dadeville, AL, grandchildren Denise Claffy and Bobby, Philip, Chris, and Eric Gibson, great-grandchildren Stephen, Hannah, Kyran, Jamie, Joseph, Thomas, Rachel, Bradley, and Audrey, and siblings Thelma Baseman of Florida and Jean and Ralph Cranford, Jr., both of Huntingtown.
Shirley’s family asks that in lieu of flowers, contributions in her memory be made to Huntingtown United Methodist Church or to Calvert Hospice.
