Shirley Jane Liersemann

August 30, 1928 – July 22, 2017

Shirley Jane Liersemann, 88, of Parkville, MD died Saturday, July 22, 2017 of natural causes at Solomons Nursing Center, Solomons, MD. She was the youngest of three children born to Frank & Ruth Wooden, and a faithful member of Calvary Lutheran Church in Baltimore, Maryland where she served as the chair person of the Prayer Ministry. Shirley enjoyed life, singing, traveling, spending time with family & friends, and caring for those in need.
Married in 1945 to Frank Paul Liersemann, Sr. of Baltimore, Maryland, she was blessed with 64 years of marriage until his passing in 2010. Together they volunteered at the Maryland Schools for the Deaf and the Blind, and owned and operated Satyr Hill Shell service station in Parkville, Maryland for 20+ years.
Shirley is survived by her son Rev. F. Paul Liersemann, Jr and his wife Kathryn of Prince Frederick, MD; three devoted grandchildren, Sarah Gleason (Christopher), Aaron (Lyndi), John (Jackie); and four great-grandchildren, Joshua, Zachary, Claire, and Vivian.
A Celebration of Life Service for Shirley Jane Liersemann will be held on Saturday, September 30, at Arlington National Cemetery. If you plan to attend, please meet at the Administration Building at 10:15am (not the Visitors’ Center). The service will follow at 11:00am at the Columbarium.
Memorials may be given to Calvary Lutheran Church’s Grace Place (Housing & Care for those in need), 2625 E. Northern Parkway, Baltimore, MD 21214.
