Scott Alan Schiller
January 19, 1956 – October 17, 2022
Scott Alan Schiller, 66, of Friendship passed away peacefully at home on October 17, 2022. He was born January 19, 1956, to Charles and Iris (Rubenstein) Schiller. Scott was raised in Montgomery County and graduated from John F. Kennedy High School in 1974. He later graduated from the University of Maryland with an associate degree in Business Administration. Scott married Lynn Morley on February 18, 1977, and they lived in Laurel for many years before moving to Friendship in 2001. Scott and Lynn owned and operated Lynnes’ Window Magic, a local window treatment store, and later merged with S&S Custom Installations, installing window treatments all over the east coast, until closing in 1991. In 1992, they opened Schiller’s Packaging Plus in Laurel and operated the business until 2006. After closing his business, Scott went in the veterinary industry, a field which he always loved. For 15 years he worked different positions at multiple veterinary hospitals before retiring on December 1, 2021. Scott loved dogs. He volunteered at Canine Training Association in Beltsville, worked closely with Mid-Atlantic German Shepherd Rescue, and adopted several German Shepherds himself. He also loved spending time with his family, doing as much as he could with his grandchildren.
Scott is survived by his loving wife Lynn Schiller of Friendship, son Jason Schiller and his wife Brandy of Jessup and daughter Michelle Grisso and her husband Michael of Dunkirk, grandchildren Gregory, Morgan, Kylie, and Lincoln, and stepsister Nancy Alterman. He was preceded in death by his sister Margo Homan, parents Charles Schiller and Iris Alterman, and stepfather Bernie Alterman.
The services for Scott will be livestreamed on the Rausch Funeral Home Facebook page and can be accessed by using the following link https://www.facebook.com/RauschFH.

He was one of the nicest people I met when I worked at Dogs & Cats in 2020. He would always check in with me if I wasn’t smiling to make sure I was okay and would encourage me to keep working hard. One time I accidentally gave away dog food thinking the cans were free samples and I will never forget how respectfully and kindly he corrected me. From that day on until I left, anytime I walked pass his office he would tease me and say “here comes trouble”. He was funny, kind, very organized and thoughtful. It’s the small things that a person does that show their heart and character. While I didn’t know him for a long time, I’m glad I met Scott. You all are in my prayers, may he rest in peace.
I am so glad I got the opportunity to know Scott over the years at Dogs and Cats. He was a wonderful man, and he was always so pleasant and wonderful to chat with. Condolences to Lynn and his children and all of his family and friends. Scott’s love for you all was so evident.
Scott you were always a man to have a smartass comment and a tease for at least me! I enjoyed our banter and any talk we ever had! Especially when my brother had passed!.. I’ll never forget that conversation. You were definitely respected by me and I’m sure many others!. Gone but never forgotten! A great soul, great heart, A great Man!.
Scott, I will miss all the good times we had together as friends as well as working together. Your dedication to your family and the veterinary field will never be forgotten. Your hearty laugh and smiling face, of course people were drawn to you!! You never met a canine you didn’t like and was always willing to give them a good home. Till we meet again there will always be room for you in my heart.
Love,
Helen
