Sandra C. Barrett passed away on June 24, 2018 at her family’s home in Lusby, MD at the age of 63 after a long heroic fight with multiple medical conditions stemming from 52 years of type 1 diabetes. Sandra will be remembered as a loving mother, sister, nana, and friend.
A native of Old Lyme, CT, she graduated from Old Lyme High School before receiving her Licensed Practical Nurse certification from the Norwich Regional Technical School. She went on to a career in nursing, lovingly caring for her patients in hospitals and nursing homes in Washington, Massachusetts, Maryland, Connecticut, and Virginia. In her last years, she served as a dedicated volunteer at SouthPoint Church.
She is survived by her son Chris, daughter-in-law Melissa, sisters Donna and Cathi, and grandchildren Amelia, Elijah, Isaac, and Colter. She was predeceased by daughter Kimberly, sister Susan, and parents Stanley and Jeanne.
