Ronald Lee Wooten

Born July 12, 1935, in Seneca Falls, N.Y, Ronald Lee Wooten left this earth on September 6, 2026, at the age of 91 to be with God and his heavenly family. He is survived by his loving wife Betty Jean. He leaves behind one Son Mark (Brandy) Wooten, 3 Stepson’s Robert Michael (Maryann) Gallo, Thomas Steven (Dawn) Gallo, and Brion Albert (Lori) Gallo, 1 Grandson Cody Wooten, 4 Granddaughter’s Angela (Jon), Erin (Austin), Reiko (Kiley), and Allison, 1 Great Grandson Dean, his brother Jack (Theresa), and many nieces and nephews. He was proceeded in death by his Father Sam Means Wooten, Mother Leona Arta (Dutcher) Wooten, and 2 sisters Francis Kelly and Onalee Walker-Gasch.

Ron attended Bladensburg High School, Central State college in Oklahoma, and served in the Air Force traveling to many states and ultimately settled in Sandgates, MD to raise his family. He joined the Department of Commerce National Weather Service where he had a full career as a Meteorologist before retiring in 1990. He had a wonderful work ethic and could never sit still so he decided to continue to work after retirement. He tried his hand at Real Estate, a serviceman for an oxygen company, and drove a bus for St. Mary’s County schools. No matter what he did, he always made friends easily as everyone was drawn to him. He could talk to anyone about anything, had an outgoing nature, and an abundance of kindness and compassion for others.

His favorite hobbies were golf and woodworking. He will always be remembered by the beautiful treasures he created which remain in the homes of those he loved. He enjoyed having his Grandson with him daily when he was small teaching him how to make a good cup of coffee and all about tinkering and building in the garage. They were the best of friends and created many things together including many birdhouses for Betty to decorate.

Ron was a beautiful soul and will be dearly missed. He lived an amazing life full of love and happiness. He will always be here with us in our memories and his creations. Always remembered, always loved.
