Robert Michael Hernick, 61, of Richmond, VA passed away April 6, 2023 after a fulfilling life of selfless service. Bob, as he was known to friends and family, was born December 3, 1961, in Washington, DC to Robert Carter Hernick and Barbara Hernick-Pelletier.

SFC Hernick retired meritoriously after serving his country for over 20 years in the United States Army from February 1981 to August 2003. During his time in the service Bob and his family traveled around the US, Europe and Asia exploring the local culture and historical sites.

Always on the path of self-improvement, Bob continued his education after his military service and obtained PhD in Project Management from Capella University. Bob was a certified project management professional (PMP) which was fitting to both his professional and personal life.  No matter his physical location, Bob spent his free time as an active member of the local Alcoholics Anonymous group, Catholic Church, and community youth programs such as the cub scouts and youth sports. He enjoyed movies, art, music, and fishing. Bob was a leader for his community, friends, and family.  He was a man of few words whose actions left a lasting impact for all that knew him.

Bob was preceded in death by his wife Young Ok Hernick, son Michael Lee Hernick, sister Elizabeth “Beth” McClure, and father Robert Lee Hernick. He is survived by his sons, Chris Hernick and his wife Kelly of Henrico, VA and Andy Hernick and his wife Krystal of Monterrey, CA, 5 grandchildren, his mother, Barbara Hernick-Pelletier of Saint Petersburg, FL, and brothers Mark Hernick, Eric Hernick and Ronald Pelletier.
