Richard Oliver Bowen "Ricky"

It is with a great deal of sadness we announce that Ricky’s battle with COPD and Pulmonary Fibrosis ended. He passed away peacefully at Inova Fairfax Hospital on August 23, 2026 with his family at his side. He was 69 years old.
The youngest of three children, Richard Oliver Bowen was born to Norman and Imogene Bowen in Prince Frederick on May 30, 1957. He grew up in Port Republic on the family farm, raising tobacco, corn, and hay. He graduated from Calvert High School. After high school, he began driving a long-distance tractor trailer. He then began a career with United Parcel Service until his retirement. He then began working in service and construction until his health forced him to slow down. His love for farming kept him raising hay for his neighbors and horse owners. He was known for his strong work ethic and his willingness to help anyone in need. He was a member of Calvert Soil Conservation and the Calvert County Farm Bureau.
Outside of work, he enjoyed time off with his wife, Tammy, at their house in Virginia and later the two of them with his father -in -Law Jack in Minnesota fishing on the lake and going to the casinos.
Ricky is survived by his wife Tammy Sue, his sister Patricia Jean McKenny, (James), his brother John Blair Bowen (Nancy T.) his uncle Edward Bowen (Nancy), and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. He will be remembered for his strong work ethic, his willingness to help others, and his love for farming.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday September 2, 2026, from 10 -12 noon at Waters Memorial UMC, 5400 Mackall Road, St. Leonard, MD 20685, where services will follow at 12 Noon. Interment will be private.
