Richard Hall Chaney, Jr.
January 19, 1962 – September 3, 2023
Richard Hall Chaney Jr., 62 of Lothian, Maryland, passed away on Saturday, September 3 at his childhood home after a long battle with Squamous Cell Carcinoma.
Born January 19th, 1962 in Annapolis, Maryland, Richard spent his early career working for his family’s business, Chaney Enterprises, and went on to open his own ice company, On The Rocks in Waldorf, creating ice carvings for events around the state. After selling his business, he then focused his talent on wood carvings, creating several Chesapeake Bay themed pieces for family and friends throughout the years. Richard was an avid lifelong boater and had a passion for speed boats and all motorsports.
Richard was predeceased by his daughter, Andrea Grace Chaney, and her mother, Debra Chaney of LaPlata, Maryland. He is survived by his sisters, Donna Chaney Bunn and R.G. Chaney Lare and their families.
A Visitation is scheduled for Sunday, September 10th from 1-3pm at Rausch Funeral Home in Owings, Maryland (8325 Mt. Harmony Lane, Owings, MD). A private burial will be held at a later date. In Lieu of flowers, donations in Richard’s memory may be made to Hospice of the Chesapeake.
