Richard Francis Voss
January 20, 1960 – December 8, 2022
Richard F. Voss passed away on December 8, 2022, in Westminster, MD. Born in Buffalo, New York on January 20, 1960, to Fred and Joan Voss, Richard (Rich) Voss would be the second of their seven children. From the beginning Rich had a love for sports and competition, a genuine interest in history especially the U.S. Civil War, and a strong love for the outdoors. Rich’s competitive streak always seemed to be most intense when competing against his siblings; whether it be in a game of stickball at the local school, whiffleball in the backyard, or pickup basketball, Rich loved to have fun and compete and he loved the sports teams he rooted for, particularly the New York Yankees, New York Giants and New York Rangers. In as much as he enjoyed competing with his family or cheering on the Yankees and the Giants, he also showed a genuine love for his parents and his siblings. Whenever something needed to be done to help family or friends, Rich always made himself available and always provided a listening ear and good advice.
Living in Maryland allowed him to easily enjoy taking trips to historical locations such as Harper’s Ferry, WV, Gettysburg PA. as well as Washington, DC. His passion for the outdoors was well known to his family. Rich loved the adventure of whitewater rafting, the exploration that came from a good hike both on and off the trail; and he loved to relax around a campfire and enjoy a good conversation.
Rich was a natural leader and had an entrepreneurial spirit owning and operating his own business both in New Jersey as well as in Maryland with his brother, Kevin. He spent several years in the construction industry which segwayed into a career as a property claims insurance adjuster.
In more recent years, Rich began to turn to his Christian faith as a source of strength and solace. He most enjoyed reading the epistles of Paul, with the book of Romans being the one in which he read most frequently.
Rich is preceded in death by his parents Fred and Joan Voss and is survived by his brothers Fred (Gael), Kevin, Brendan (Danielle), his sister Joanna, and his brothers Chris (Sara), and Greg (Maria). He is also survived by his nephews, Fred, Jon (Kana), and Gabriel, niece, Marissa and great nieces and nephews.

I loved Richard very much as did all of his kin. He would never be quiet if there was a wrong happening in front of him and he’d always stand up for little guy. I’ve witnessed it too many times to count he was selfless to a fault I will miss him greatly. Somehow I love you isn’t strong enough a term for my feelings for him.
