Richard Edwin Loveless, 77, of Dunkirk passed away March 20, 2023. He was born November 16, 1945 in Cheverly, MD to Nelson Elliott and Anna Clara (Roberts) Loveless. Richard grew up on a tobacco farm in Upper Marlboro and graduated from Frederick Sasscer High School. Richard moved to Dunkirk and built his own home on the farm in 1982. He loved all aspects of farming, gardening, beekeeping, and taking care of his cattle, goats, and chickens. In 2014 he donated 1,209 pounds of food that he raised on his farm to the local food pantry. Richard was a kind man with a big heart and will be greatly missed.

My cousin, Richard Edwin Loveless. He was loved by everyone. Richard you will be missed and I love you forever. You were a hard working man and was there there for me when I needed you. I will always remember the fun times visiting you on the farm. Good laughs and kidding around all the time. We had such good times! ❤️- Betty
My brother, Richard was a man with a heart of gold and of many talents, he was a craftsman carpenter, building his own home and farm. He was a keeper of the earth, loved gardening, farming and his animals. He had many years of abundant crops which he generously shared with the community. Richard was a proud father raising two fine upstanding sons, Ricky and Mathew. He will be missed by all and forever in our hearts. I love you, Richard.
Richard was a fine person and a great neighbor. My family lived across the street from Richard for many in Forestville. When my dad built a house there Richard helped us hang drywall and he sparkled the entire house. Richard was a hard worker and any excellent carpenter. He could do anything in regards to construction. Laying brick to finishing concrete to framing and just about anything. My family and I were lucky to have Richard for a friend and neighbor. My brothers grew up with Matt and Ricky and Jan used to cut our hair. Those were good memories. Take a break Richard you earned it
Cousin Richard, I have such fond memories of you and Dennis meeting over the years and just sitting and talking about your growing up years together and the fun that you both had with each other. I can just picture another fine meeting of the two of you in Heaven and the joy you will share again. My love and sympathy to all your family in their loss of your physical presence here with them. The memories and love will always be in our hearts until we meet again one fine day in Glory. Love, Frances
Our condolences to the Loveless family. Richard was a very good friend for over 40 years. In 1985 Richard hired me as a carpenter with the Whalen & Purdy Construction Co. With Richard’s guidance I was elevated to a Carpenter Foreman and and Project Superintendent to which helped guide me to a successful future in the Construction Management field. Richard called me years later and was hired by the Tuckman-Barbee Construction Co. as a Project Superintendent until his retirement. When a tree was about to fall on my house following a strong wind storm I contacted Richard and he immediately agreed to help me take the large tree down without causing damage to the house. Since Richard and Gudrun live close by they would invite our family over to the farm to pick their blackberries and the assortment of garden vegetables that they planted. During our return visits we would in return drop off some freshly caught blue crabs and oysters that they loved to pick on. Over the years we enjoyed going out to dinner with Richard and Gudrun to discuss old times. We will cherish our recent visit with Richard and Gudrun at their farm that they so dearly love. Richard will truly be missed.
Sincerely,
Francis, Nancy and Shane Cray
