Richard Bennett Hall, Sr. passed away peacefully on April 28, 2024, at home in Owings, Maryland in the company of his daughter Alyson, son Bennett, and wife Naomi after an extended illness. Richard was born in Upper Marlboro, Maryland to Robert (Bobby) Hall, III (deceased) and Evalina Summers Hall Mitchell and was dearly loved by his many siblings, nieces, nephews, and stepfather John Mitchell (deceased). He attended St. Mary’s of the Assumption and Queen Anne School before dedicating nearly 50 years to Bob Hall, Inc., a business started by his grandfather, where he served as President. Richard was devoted to his family and many friends. A truly generous and humble soul, his compassion was legendary as he went out of his way to acknowledge others and support those in need. Richard was a constant champion of those who serve others including the Prince Georges, Calvert, and Charles County Sheriff and Police Departments and first responders, Calvert Alliance Against Substance Abuse, Washington Regional Alcohol Program, Make a Wish Foundation, responsible drinking and safety programs, hospice organizations, and food banks. He was passionate about preserving our beautiful Chesapeake Bay and honoring traditions of Southern Maryland. He was a member of the Marlborough Hunt Club, Southern Maryland Society, and the Loyal Order of Moose Lodge 1856. He loved learning about discoveries in nature and science and celebrated ingenuity in business, technology, and daily living. We will always remember his great sense of humor, boundless enthusiasm, and deep sense of responsibility to making the world a better place. To the Hall family, my deepest condolences on this loss. Richard was a gentle man with a truly giving spirit. I enjoyed my time with him when he was with Bob Hall and especially celebrating the two days of racing at the Marlboro Races. In later years was proud to support his efforts and those of Bob Hall in the designated driver program across Southern Maryland.
Richard, rest in peace my friend.
