Raymond Joseph Herbert, Sr., 85, of Chesapeake Beach passed away May 30, 2022. He was born September 27, 1936 in Washington, DC to Douglas Wayne and Mabel Elizabeth (Prather) Herbert. Ray married Donna Hickox on June 12, 1959 and they lived in Clinton before moving to Chesapeake Beach in 2011. He worked as a truck driver for Woodward & Lothrop, which later became Wanamaker’s, for many years. Ray enjoyed sports, especially golf, baseball, and football and he was an avid fan of the Washington Redskins and Capitals and the Baltimore Orioles.

Ray is survived by his wife Donna Kay Herbert, children Raymond Joseph Herbert, Jr. and Kerry Lynn Herbert and granddaughter Donna Jo “Muffy” Harmon, all of Chesapeake Beach. He is also survived by his brother-in-law Chester Ronald Hickox and his wife Ginger, sisters-in-law Brenda Cornelius and Ann Herbert, niece Patty Boyd, and numerous other nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, siblings Boozer, Warner, Skipper, Mary, Richard, and Robert, and mother-in-law Kathryn Hickox.
