Priscilla Alden Watson
November 22, 1925 – February 5, 2023
Born on November 22, 1925, she was the daughter of the late Henry Palmer Alden and Mary Wallace Alden. She is predeceased by her beloved husband, Herbert “Herb” Edwin Watson (1925-1990), her daughter Carolyn Watson Huber, along with three brothers, William Alden, Manning Wallace Alden, and Staten Palmer Alden.
She is survived by her daughter Pat (Priscilla) Watson Cole and her husband Tom, her son, Randy (Randall) Watson and his wife Dot and she watched eight grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren, and two great-great grandchildren begin their journeys through life.
Priscilla held a graduate degree in Library Science and an undergraduate degree in Spanish. Once her children were of school age, she became a professional librarian in Montgomery County, where she remained until she retired. An avid gardener, Priscilla enjoyed a bountiful harvest year after year as she lovingly tended to her garden – enjoying growing her own vegetables and always had plenty to share with everyone.
Priscilla enjoyed being outside and loved spending time on the water. Sailboat racing was one of her favorite ways to spend her time and she collected several trophies doing so. Whether it was a sailboat race, or a leisurely afternoon spent crabbing on the Chesapeake Bay, Priscilla loved her Fairhaven home and all of her friendships there.
She also loved classical music and old movies. Her favorites included Smetana’s Moldau and Edvard Grieg’s Peer Gynt Suite. She was a whiz at crossword puzzles and still played bridge with a few of her neighbors.
In her later years, Priscilla was a supporter of St. Jude’s Hospital for Children. Her family was always her passion, however, and she enjoyed family gatherings and celebrations throughout each year more than anything else. She was loved by everyone and will be sorely missed.

I spent my Summers in Fairhaven at my grandfathers cottage adjacent to Priscilla and Herb Watson’s cottage. Priscilla was a woman of substance, courage, intelligence and independence. She was loving and kind to all who had the privilege to know her. She had a spark and love of life that she exhibited every day of her life. I feel privileged to have known and loved her. I know how much she loved her three children and her husband Herb as she showed it in so many ways on a daily basis. She was feisty and full of life until the end of her life. I think I loved this woman as much as I did my own mother. I will miss her and I will never forget her. By the way, one of her favorite movies was “Now Voyager” with Bette Davis and it is one of mine also.
