Patrick Francis “Pat” Hurley, 84, of Solomons, Maryland, formerly of Oxon Hill, Maryland, passed away on June 12, 2026, in Solomons.

Born on August 21, 1941, in Washington, D.C., Pat was the son of the late Marion V. Sanford and William F. Hurley.

Pat was the beloved husband of Carolyn “Connie” Hurley, whom he married in Solomons, Maryland, on July 6, 1984. Together they shared many happy years until Connie’s passing on November 19, 2000.

A 1960 graduate of Oxon Hill High School, Pat built a successful career as a brick mason. Through years of hard work and dedication to his craft, he eventually founded his own company, P.F. Hurley, Inc., which he proudly operated until his retirement in 2012. He was a Life Member of the Bricklayers & Allied Craftworkers Local 1 and faithfully served for many years as a trustee for the Laborers’ Health & Welfare Fund, where he was respected for his commitment to his fellow workers and their families.

Pat found his greatest joy on the water. An avid fisherman and crabber, he treasured every opportunity to spend time aboard his beloved boats, Baby Doll and Wide Open. He also enjoyed traveling throughout the United States, especially trips to Las Vegas and Nashville, where he could indulge his love of country music. Whether on the Chesapeake Bay or on the road with family and friends, Pat embraced life with a generous spirit and an appreciation for the simple pleasures.

Pat is survived by his daughter, Susan Hogan (Chris) of Rockville, MD; brother, James Hurley of Silver Spring, MD; and one grandchild. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, and a brother, David Hurley.

Pat will be remembered for his strong work ethic, devotion to his trade, love of the water, and the many friendships he cultivated throughout his life. His memory will be cherished by all who had the privilege of knowing him.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that memorial contributions be made to the Chesapeake Bay Trust, 108 Severn Avenue, Annapolis, MD 21403, in honor of Pat’s lifelong love of the Bay.
