She is survived by her three children: son Domenic (Nick) Lavato and daughter-in-law Pat (Buckler), son Anthony (Tony) Lavato and daughter-in-law Brenda (White), and her daughter, Tina Lavato. She is also survived by Grandchildren, Melissa, Marie, Sarah, Christina, Nick, D.J., and Charles, and Great Grandchildren, Zoe, Chloe, Arianna, Lily, Josie, Nash, Evan, Ava, Asher, Lylah, and Nella.
Patti was born in Burlington, VT. to Francis and Doris Hallihan (nee LaBelle) Nov. 20, 1931. After Richard joined the Air Force, she flew, at the age of 21, to Wiesbaden, Germany, where the two were married.
Patti was an avid and passionate gardener known for her beautiful collection of Iris, among the many other flowers and trees in her yard. She also developed a keen interest in genealogy and spent many hours researching family history and recording it for future generations to use and enjoy.
Patti served as President of the Women’s Democratic Club of Calvert County and was a member of the Huntingtown Fire Dept. Ladies’ Auxiliary. She was an active member of Lower Marlboro United Methodist Church where she helped manage the cemetery plots and assisted with numerous church dinners and yard sales. She also worked for the State of Maryland for a number of years and volunteered at the Chesapeake Railway Museum in Chesapeake Beach.
She will be greatly missed by her family and friends, and her memory will be forever cherished.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Lower Marlboro-Mount Harmony United Methodist Church.

Nick – so sorry. Mom looks like she had a life well-lived…. It must have been so so good to have her close by.
I lost my 91 yr old mom earlier this year. She lived 6 hours away, but tried to see her grandkids as often as she could. I hope to hear more stories of your mom someday… take good care and God Bless. – Brian Holian
Dear Lovato Family:
On behalf of the Chesapeake Beach Railway Museum and the Friends of the Chesapeake Beach Railway, please accept our deepest condolences on the passing of our beloved Pat. She was well loved by all of us who knew her. She and I enjoyed many a conversation about the both us coming from Massachusetts. Pat was willing to come in and volunteer whenever I needed her and did several “tours of duty” for an extended time frame. I was so happy to see her when she came to our last Holiday dinner event a few years back. I hope that you will find comfort in her memory as she lives on in the hearts of everyone who knew her.
Nick,
I’m sorry for the loss of your mother. It sounds like she was quite accomplished and did a lot for her community during her lifetime. I pray the Lord will bring you and your family comfort and strength during the days and weeks to come.
Love to all,
Jeanine
Dear Tina,
My condolences to you and all of your family. Your Mom loved her family, home/garden, and community. Some of my most fondest memories are of spending summer weekends with you and your Mom in her beautiful home. May your loving memories of your Mom keep her in your hearts.
Hugs,
Anna
Even though I did not know Pat real well, I could tell she was a strong woman with a lot of pride. I first met Pat through Lower Marlboro Methodist Church, where I became a church member many years ago. She was the long-term caretaker of the cemetery and devoted a lot of time to overseeing the management of the grounds, the files (oh, those files) and being a greeter to all who knocked on her door. What a pleasant woman and I will always thank her for her kindness towards myself and family.

I am just learning of the death of Mrs. Lavato. So many wonderful memories I have of my childhood with her and our families. My deepest sympathy Nick, Tony and Tina.
Patti and I corresponded on Ancestry. My condolences to the family. She was a distant cousin of my mother and I on her Labelle side.
