Naomi Victoria Stratton, age 95, of St. Leonard, MD passed away on August 24, 2026.

She was born on February 14, 1931, in Allegheny County, Pennsylvania to Charles Edward Blend and Beatrice Ethel Blend. Naomi spent her early years in West Mifflin, Pennsylvania and moved to Anacostia, District of Columbia where she graduated from Anacostia High School.

She married Robert Charles Stratton on October 17, 1949, in Washington, DC and together they shared 39  years until his death in 1988. She was the mother of five children, grandmother of ten, and great-grandmother of seven.

Naomi completed her bachelor’s degree in music education in 1979, after raising her five children. She inspired countless students to appreciate and love music, some of whom were inspired to pursue music as a career. She enjoyed a rewarding  40-year teaching career, finally retiring at age 80.

Her great talent for singing became evident at a very young age. Throughout her life, she gained a reputation as a valued soprano in ensembles and choirs, and sang many solos. Her talents as a director soon emerged, leading to a lifelong service in sacred music.

Naomi strongly valued family and faith, instilling those values in her children. She loved to watch the backyard birds at her many feeders. Her creative nature extended to watercolor painting, crocheting, sewing and a multitude of other craft adventures.

Naomi is survived by her children Diana (Stanley), Robert, Cynthia (John), Cathy, and Carol (Steve). Grandchildren Timothy (Jen), Jonathan (Jamie), Nathan (Hee), Jennifer, Victoria, Rachel (Gavin), Robert (Caroline), Jordan, Adam and Tara. Great-grandchildren April, Caroline, Isaac, Sheldon, John, Austin, and Hannah. She was preceded in death by her husband Robert.

Services will be held at Trinity United Methodist Church in Prince Frederick, Maryland. Visitation will be held at 10:00 am, followed by the Celebration of Life service at 11:00 am.
