Naomi Erma Griffin
July 1, 1926 – January 19, 2023
Naomi Erma Griffin, 96 ½, of Prince Frederick, Maryland passed away on January 19, 2023 surrounded by her family. She was born on July 1, 1926 in a makeshift hospital, in a building that is still standing today on Sandy Point Road, just about a 1/4 mile from where she lived now. Her mother and father, Margie and Preston Fowler lived in the home they built while still raising their family. Our mother worked at a local clothing store in Prince Frederick where she met our father, Hubert Griffin. She fell in love right away and they were married in Georgia after meeting his parents. Our Mom was steadfast and honorable. Her wisdom was boundless. She grew to be the monarch of our family and relatives. She was a lovely lady, and a devout Christian who served and loved the Lord. Her children, and grandchildren loved her unconditionally.
Our Mom was known to be a thrift store queen. Even at 95 years of age she would spend hours shopping, and everything she chose to buy were things that we could actually use. She was the most intelligent and understanding person that we’ve ever known. Her integrity and high ethical values were uncompromising, and she installed those values within her children. We are all so grateful and thankful to have her as our mother. She will be missed by all who had the honor of knowing her. We love you Mom, and we all know that you are now happy with the Lord and with our precious grandmother and siblings in heaven.
She is preceded in death by her husband Hubert Griffin. Children Cynthia Ann Scaggs, and Gerald Griffin, son in law, Wythe Brown, daughter in law Helen Griffin her sisters Mildred Fowler and Ruth Herbert and her brothers William Fowler, Jr. and Raymond Fowler.
She is survived by her children; Linda Jean Rubis and her husband Joseph, Nancy Lee Brown, Brian Timothy Griffin, Mark Dennis Griffin and his wife Karen and Richard Wayne Griffin and his wife Pat. She is also survived by her son in law Buddy Scaggs, daughter in law Arbutus Griffin, 12 Grandchildren, 27 Great Grandchildren and three Great Great Grandchildren.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday January 25 from 2-4 and 6-8 PM at the Rausch Funeral Home, 4405 Broomes Island Road, Port Republic, Maryland. Funeral services will be held on Thursday January 26, 2023, 1 PM, at Full Gospel Assembly of God Church 890 Solomons Island Road South, Prince Frederick, Maryland. Interment will follow in Asbury Cemetery, Barstow, Maryland.
