Nancy Lynne Caplinger
March 24, 1963 – August 24, 2024
Nancy Lynne Caplinger, of Lusby, MD, passed away at St. Mary’s Hospital August 24, 2024 with her devoted husband and other family by her side. She was 61. She is survived by her husband (Kenneth DeHenzel), her father (Brahm Muller) and many other family members. Lynne was born in Norfolk, Va and grew up in Virginia Beach. After moving to Maryland, she completed her Bachelor and Master degrees in Information Technology and Intelligence. She worked for over 30 years as a contractor for NAVAIR and NAWCAD at NAS Patuxent River, in the areas of Information Technology, Security and Information Assurance.
Lynne was fiercely loyal and dedicated to her family. She cherished her roles as wife, mother, daughter, sister, aunt, grandmother, friend. She particularly loved sharing time with her grandchildren. Her caring and generous nature was felt by all her family, friends and co-workers. In her spare time, Lynne loved landscaping and gardening, sketching, photography, and fishkeeping. Over the years, she cultivated and maintained multiple saltwater aquariums and she enjoyed sharing her knowledge of fish and corals with others. Lynne loved learning new skills. Once she made up her mind to do something, her will-power and drive helped her to achieve her goals. We are so proud of her accomplishments and courageous determination.
Her persevering faith carried her throughout life. As we grieve, may we be comforted in knowing she is home in the arms of Jesus. In lieu of flowers or gifts, Lynne and her family ask that donations be made to Safe Harbor women’s shelter in Prince Frederick, or any charity of your choice. The link for Safe Harbor is below:

My Family and I wish to send our deepest condolences to Lynne’s Family and Friends. Lynne is one of the nicest and wonderful human being I’ve ever met. I’ve known Lynne for over 30 years and she always had a smile on her face and never said anything bad about anyone. The world lost an exceptional wonderful person. R. I. P Lynne, I know Nikki was the first one to meet you in Heaven.
Thank you Tim, everything you said was so true. Everyone that crossed paths with Lynne became a better person having known her. I was her #3 and the saying rings true, third one is a charm. It is very hard for me to get the words out due to the grief I have yet to understand. I want to cry but I can’t come to grips that she is really gone. As with Nikki it hit me hard and one day soon I know it’s going to hit me once again. I do have comfort knowing she is with Nikki, Art and her mom and they are all rejoicing with Jesus. Amen
I am grateful to have met and become Lynne’s friend. She was the first person I met when I started my saltwater aquarium hobby. She taught me and shared with me so eagerly and without hesitation.
I’m very saddened with her passing. It is way too soon. I send her family and friends condolences.
RIP Lynne 🙏🏼💔 I didn’t have the privilege to know her very long but the very short amount of time I did have the honor of knowing her, she was such a sweet and amazing soul. She will always be in my heart and I will always think of her any time I see a coral. she’s the reason why I fell in love with coral the way I did. the hobby won’t feel/be the same without you. Rest easy Lynne and for family and friend’s, I’m truly sorry for the loss of this very kind and loving soul. 💔🙏🏼😇
My family sends our deepest condolences to all of Lynne’s family. I did not know Lynne as well as I would have liked, however her Dad helped me when I was young and has remained a steady and positive presence in my life for years so I feel as though I know her though him. Our hearts to go to all of her family
My family sends our deepest sympathy to Lynne and all of her family. I met Lynne through her sister, Karen, and she left a kind and caring impression. She was a sincere, funny, and caring person that will be missed. May happy memories of Lynne continue to bring you comfort through this difficult time.
On behalf of the Naval Surface Warfare Center Dahlgren Division (NSWCDD) B40 Division leadership team and B42 Radar Performance Branch in support of Karen Knox, we send our heartfelt, deepest condolences and caring thoughts to the Caplinger Family and friends. We wish you peace, comfort, courage, and strength during this difficult time. May your fond memories of Ms. Lynne Caplinger live in your hearts for now and forever more. God Bless.
My heartfelt sympathy for Lynne’s passing and your and our nation’s loss. She provided her wisdom to me in her interactions with me while she was in her role as in information assurance subject matter expert. Taken way too soon.
Lynne’s dedication in her work for the warfighter was an inspiration to many of us. In an ever changing environment we could count on her to keep the focus on the mission! I will miss those conversations solving problems and sharing common life issues. Her dedication and problem solving nature is missed greatly already.
Psalm 34:18 The Lord is near to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit.
I only had the privilege of knowing Mrs. Caplinger through work, I never had the privilege of meeting her in person. I really enjoyed working with her and miss her greatly. I am rejoicing knowing she is with Jesus and I will be able to meet her in person one day. I found her to be a sound of reason, kind, dedicated and greatly appreciate all she did. I will continue to pray for her family, friends and community. I pray you feel Jesus sweet presence more so and He will give you a peace that passes all understanding. Philippians 4:7 I have no doubt she is starting to learn all the ways her life impacted those on earth for God’s glory.
Fondly remember good times with Lynn—she was a wonderful person who we were lucky enough to have shared our lives with. We’ll miss seeing her big smile and warm greeting while walking her fur babies; her loss has left a Huge void in our neighborhood and in our hearts.
Dear Kenny,
I am so sorry for your loss. Lynne was such a special person. I always felt her joy whenever we spoke and I will miss her so much. She is with Nikki and Art now and that gives me some comfort. You are in my prayers. God bless you.
Thank you Marcy, needless to say I am lost without her. I know where she is and I do have peace knowing she is no longer suffering. She is experiencing endless joy and a new body perfect in every way. When God is ready for me I am ready to go now to be with her again.
I met Lynne and Kenny through the adoption of Nikki’s son. Through our relationship with both Kenny and Lynne, we not only gained friends, but we gained a family. We spent many holidays and vacations together. Lynne was my friend and craft buddy. She was “my pick up” when I had hard days. I will miss her laugh and sense of humor. I hope we can all find comfort in the fact that she is a believer in Jesus and that one day we will all be together again. Kenny, I hope you know that I am praying for you always.
Love Tara and Mike
Thank you Tara and Mike, I miss Lynne every minute of every day. I love you guys and yes we were a family / friends. I will alway cherish the times we spent together. Even though I could see the end was coming, nothing can prepare you for the aftermath.
