Melinda Frances Torreyson, Mendy, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by family in Prince Frederick, Maryland, on June 5, 2025, at the age of 65.
Mendy was born on November 29, 1959, in Frankfurt, Germany, to the late Herbert and Anna Courtney.
She shared 44 wonderful years of marriage with her devoted husband, Daniel Torreyson. Together, they built a loving home and family, raising their two children, Thomas Torreyson (Maysaa) and Stacy O’Donnell (John), who brought her endless pride and joy. Mendy was a deeply cherished “Boom” to her grandchildren, Andrew and Hailey O’Donnell, with whom she shared countless treasured memories.
She is also survived by her sister, Becky Aiello (Tony), and many other loving family members and close friends. Mendy was preceded in death by her parents and her brother, Herbie Courtney.
Mendy loved eating crabs, baking, tending to her flowers, and watching hummingbirds. A loyal Washington Redskins fan, she never missed a chance to cheer them on, even in tough seasons. Her greatest joy, though, was spending time surrounded by her family and pets, always with love and laughter at the center.
Mendy brought joy and warmth to everyone around her and will be deeply missed by all who had the honor of knowing her.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made to Hospice of the Chesapeake, whose compassionate care provided comfort in Mendy’s final days.

Sweet Mendy, when I think of you, I can hear your voice and see your beautiful face. Thank you for always loving me and being a beautiful blessing and memory that I will truly cherish. When I think back to Jack n the box, working with Becky, and you coming in to see us…., I smile and picture you standing there…. what a wonderful time we had as teenagers. One day, we will all be together again. ❤️
