Matthew Shelton Boothe
November 5, 1970 – April 17, 2023
Matthew Shelton “Matt” Boothe, 52, of Owings passed away April 17, 2023, at home surrounded by family. He was born November 5, 1970, in Cheverly to Michael Gene and Kathleen Marie (Bean) Boothe. Matt grew up in Lanham and later moved to Owings and graduated from Northern High School. He married Stephanie Coontz in 2002 and they lived in North Beach and Chesapeake Beach before moving to Owings in 2013. He and Stephanie have been together for 29 years. Matt worked as a sheet metal mechanic with Local 100 for 34 years. Matt was an extremely hard worker with a great work ethic. When he wasn’t working, he enjoyed fishing, hunting, going to Duffy’s, and a cold Bud Light.
Matt is survived by his loving wife Stephanie Boothe, son Matthew Boothe Jr. and his fiancé Katie Wallace of Chesapeake Beach, daughter Ashley Boothe of Owings, and granddaughter Braelynn Rose Savoy. He is also survived by his mother Kathleen Boothe of Owings, brother Michael Boothe of Florida, sister Katie Keller and her husband Jason of Huntingtown, and niece Victoria Keller. He was preceded in death by a daughter Samantha Boothe in 2001.

We are so sorry for your loss and wish you peace at this most difficult time. Our daughter, Katie thought very highly of Matt and is looking forward to being part of the Boothe Family but her heart is broken by his passing. Matt and Stephanie raised a very sweet and caring son and we welcome him into our family. We only wish there is something we could do to ease the pain you are all going through. All our prayers,
Kevin and Tracy
We are profoundly saddened by the loss of Matt as he was a good, solid, and reliable father, husband, and man; few were better. Hardworking and a great provider to Stephanie and their children. I’ve never known a soul to dislike Matt. Matt touched the lives of my family in so many wonderful ways. He was ALWAYS there for our daughter, Sami, regardless of what she needed or the expense, as I know he was for Stephanie, Ashley and Jr as well. I have no doubts that Matt is in Heaven and in God’s embrace; although, I bet Sami made God wait until she embraced her Daddy when he walked through Heaven’s gates. I’d like to believe God would have been understanding and patient with Sami as who could have denied Sami in all her excitement seeing her Daddy again. Much love to Matt’s family during this time. Sue, Karli, & Joseph Curtis and the Armour Family. We all loved Matt dearly!

Matt was a one of a kind man. I found him to be a kind, gentle, and patient person that loved his family and worked hard to provide for them. Lucky for him, he loved his job and the people he worked with.
Matt will be deeply missed.
So sorry for your loss.
So sorry for the loss to the family. I’ve worked with Matt for a couple years and was very grateful to meet a great tradesman and a great man.
