Martin Joseph Concannon Jr., 83, passed away peacefully at home on December 8, 2024. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend, leaving behind a legacy of kindness, integrity, and exceptional craftsmanship.

Born in Washington, D.C., and raised in Forestville, MD, Marty graduated from Suitland High School in 1959. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War, where he was deployed to Southeast Asia. After his military service, Marty joined the family business in automotive services, where he honed his skills towards becoming a master mechanic. His natural talent, dedication to his craft & entrepreneurial spirit led him to open his own automotive service station in Annapolis, MD. For more than 15 years, his shop became a trusted local institution, known for its exceptional service, integrity, and Marty’s personal touch.

Marty’s calm, steady nature and warm demeanor made him a friend to all. He also had a special place in his heart for cats, and always opened his own home to rescues. A true outdoorsman & sportsman, his love of nature, deep-sea fishing & travel, brought him countless adventures & cherished memories throughout his life. Locally, he served as a devoted member of the Brandywine American Legion Post 227, even serving as it’s ‘Commander’ in 2016. True to his roots, he also carried a lifelong passion for the Washington Redskins and NASCAR racing.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Patricia Concannon; his daughter, Marti Concannon; his grandson, Caleb Aufenanger; his sister, Dorothy Gwin; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, and while he will be deeply missed, the family takes comfort in knowing that Marty is now reunited with them.

In keeping with Marty’s wishes, there will be no formal service. The family asks that in lieu of flowers, via the link below, donations be made in his memory to Rude Ranch Animal Rescue, a cause close to Marty’s heart.

May he rest in peace.
