Martha Ann Bliss, 85, of Lusby, MD passed away on March 4, 2024 in Baltimore, MD.  Born July 27, 1938 in Washington, DC, she was the daughter of the late Robert Jackson Short and Melba Mae (Grant) Short.

Martha graduated from Northwestern High School in Washington, DC.  She moved to Calvert County from Lanham, MD in 1975.  Martha was employed by the Calvert County Health Department for approximately twenty years.  She was a member of the North Beach Ladies Auxiliary and St. Paul United Methodist Church, Lusby, MD.

Martha is survived by her husband, James O’Donovan Bliss whom she married on October 5, 1985 in Calvert County; her children, Jack E. Sypult (Deborah) of Lusby, MD, James C. Sypult (Sandra K. Wing) of Edgewater, MD, Jeanne M. Foster of Lusby, MD and Jeffrey S. Lewis (Carrie H. Pendleton) of Owings, MD; her step-children, J. Michael Bliss (Doreen) of Olney, MD, Gregory P. Bliss (Francene) of Brookeville, MD and Kathleen O. Rizak (Daniel) of Monrovia, MD; eighteen grandchildren; and eleven great-grandchildren.
