Margaret “Marie” Chaney, 85, of Greencastle, PA, formerly of Upper Marlboro, MD, passed away on December 29, 2022. She is survived by a daughter, Dawn Marie Fletcher and son-in-law Kevin Fletcher and her three grandchildren, Thomas, Casey, and Sara Fletcher. She is also survived by three sisters, Delores Drake, Carolyn Drummond, and Diana Diana as well as several brothers-in-law and many nieces and nephews. Marie worked for the Prince Georges County Public Schools in many capacities but retired in her last position as the Secretary to the Superintendent. She participated in the Auxiliary at the Stallings-Williams Post 206, American Legion where her deceased husband, James “Jim” Chaney was a member. Along with her husband, she enjoyed continuing education classes at the Prince Georges Community College which highlighted excursions to museums, parks, events, and local attractions. In addition, Marie stayed active in participating in dances at the American Legion and Moose Lodge with her sisters and brothers-in-law. She was creative and loved making crocheted doilies, but most of all, Marie’s biggest joy was the love of her family.
