Jenny so sorry to learn of grandma’s death. She lived a long adventureous (according to standards of the day) life. One just can’t be sad when a loved one lives as long as grandma did then goes to that eternal sleep. She was an imposing figure in yours and Rachael’s life growing up and you were there to care for her when she became sick. Take care of yourself. Judy
My husband Gordon and I are so sorry for the loss of Kitty. She was always one of the kindest people that I have ever met.
We are also sorry for her loss to all that knew her. She made a welcome difference on this earth.

A fond memory…Aunt Kitty and Uncle Johnny would stop off at our home in Connecticut several time a year . We were 1/2 way between Maryland and his Schooling in Maine. I can vividly remember his Sermons on our Pulpit ..And Aunt Kitty singing in our Choir.. Another fond memory is when Aunt Kitty would stop by Carol’s office and drop off some scrapple and sausage from Frederick for us, and of course Apple Butter. Rest in Peace Aunt Kitty…Love Richard and Carol Penfield
As I have been thinking about Kitty in these past two days, the adjective that keeps emerging is “goodness.” Her goodness, beauty and gentle yet strong presence will be missed by all of us. My first memories of Kitty are from my two-week summer stay at the George and Ethel Hoffman farm in 1956 or 1957. My father thought it would be good for me to work hard on the dairy farm of our relatives and to enjoy that wonderful family life in the heat of the summer. I stayed with Johnny and Kitty and rose every morning before sunrise, before the rooster crowed… to the smell of home-cooked bacon and eggs and coffee. Then down to the dairy barn where 40 or more cows were milked. Morning clean-up chores and field work were followed by an incredible noon supper, the big meal of the day. I have strong memories of watching beautiful Kitty speed away to work in their black Chevy two-door sedan. She was a pillar of support to John’s dreams of entering the ministry. Those are my earliest memories, but there are plenty more that I hope to write about eventually. Kitty was beloved in our family and shall remain so. Surely GOODNESS and mercy has been among us all these years. Rest in peace, dear Kitty.
Miss Kitty was a wonderful surrogate grandparent for our two daughters. Her drop-by visits left a bright spot in the day. I will always remember her as kind and gentle whenever in her presence. We were blessed by her graciousness and privileged to know her so long.
I adored Kitty. Her presence always brought sunshine to me and others on any occasion. Kitty always showed interest and empathy towards any plight, big or small that one was going through at the time. I have many wonderful memories of the visits we shared with her and John over the years….Frederick, Bethesda, Kenwood Beach, and more. Oh the crab feasts at their cottage! Kitty was what I would call a Divine Mother. She was kind, compassionate and strong! How deeply she did love and empower her children and grandchildren! May her radiant heart be felt forever more with each of you! Miss Kitty wouldn’t have it any other way!!

A life well lived as humanitarian, clergyman’s wife, mother, grandmother and friend to many. Rest in peace, Kitty.
